[It is indeed a nice day in hell. Which elevates a certain pirate's irritation because he doesn't feel normal enough to enjoy the weather ( Read more... )

[Zoro is sitting cross-legged, balanced on the rail of the bridge to town. He's also steadily pumping iron and looking out over the river, so when Sanji stubbornly comes by he initially just glances over, registering 'I see you, but I'm busy so unless you've got something to say I'm going to just ignore you'-at least until he actually sees Sanji.

When he does his reps halt for a moment, and then he turns to squint more interrogatively at the weirdly ragged-looking cook. He's not too familiar with sickness, either, and he's definitely never seen it on Sanji, but it doesn't take more than a quick scan to confirm that yes, it looks like a stiff breeze could knock the guy down. What the hell. :|a

No preamble whatsoever.]

Oi. What's wrong with you?

[Ah look - a shithead. Someone Sanji doesn't want to see, in case he's being weirdly intuitive or just fuckin observant today. Either option will end with questions, and frankly, the chef's not feeling up to Q&A of any sort. The very idea of a verbal match turns him blurry-eyed and irritable.

But no problem, right? Just act calm, keeps the shoulders squared, pretend he's got business to attend t-

Yeeeeaaah, didn't get across the shitty bridge, did he? He halts at the question with a groan barely concealed, but tired or not because he's not sick, he straightens and turns and looks as unapologetic as possible]

I'm busy and you're interrupting me, shithead. That's what's wrong. [That's right. Go back to your muscle building. >_> Nothing to see here, Zoro. Move along]

[Zoro still just Looks at him for several long beats, raising a skeptical brow at the shade of-sunburn?-on his face and tension-tight eyes and mouth, not to mention the way he's standing. ...Sorry, cook, body language is a fighter's bitch.]

[...And then he just snorts and turns back to the river, weights starting to move again.]

Che. Whatever.

[Uh-huh. You move along, cook, Zoro was here first. ...No, really, just go ahead, he's back to safely ignoring you. Nothing stopping you from getting from this end of the bridge to that end over there. Honest.

[...

You're just gonna let hi--

>__> Uh. He means, damn right you're gonna let him pass, asshole. He only stares a moment or two before doing just that, cheing a rebuttal back at the swordsman, and internally waving off the sense of foreboding that's cropped up as he begins his (cautious and shaky) cross over the bridge.

Chalk up another win for the chef. Brains over brawn, ladies and gentleman.]

[Yeah, sure. Except that-hello sense of foreboding-right about when Sanji tries to pass by, Brawn shoots out an arm, plants a hand on his shoulder and shoves him. 8|

Very far from as hard as he could have, especially after seeing that shaky excuse for a walk, but firmly.

Prove him wrong and don't move an inch before retaliating with a kick to the head, cook. He'd prefer that, honestly-it'd be way less trouble in the long run. But he doesn't expect it.]

[Well... can't say he didn't completely see that coming. But expecting something and reacting to it are not one and the same, and neither Sanji's mind or body are in top form.

Oh hell yes, he retaliates ... but it's so slow he might as well be trying to attack the air instead of Zoro's head. And he still stumbles two steps backward, world tilting in a way that makes his head pound all the more]

Are you trying to start shit, asshole?! [It's aaaaaall bark today; he knows what Zoro did. And now that idiot knows Sanji performed the equivalent of blinking in a staring contest.

Damn it. -_-]

[What is this kick. -__- Zoro just leans back a bit to let it sweep by at the speed of comparative molasses, narrowing his eyes at the unwanted confirmation. Yeah, busted.]

What could you do about it like that if I was.

[Less of a throwaway line than it seems at first glance. If the shit cook can't even respond properly to a push...8|]

Whelp, seeing as you caught me in a good mood, I'll let your shitty ass off easy this time!

[He'll just, uh. Continue on his way into town. >______________> E-excuse him, Zoro.]

[...If he ends up having to throw your dumbass sick self over his shoulder, cook, it will not be pleasant for anyone.]

[But he'll do it if it comes down to it. Shuffling around your own kitchen during recovery when all your nakama are in the house is one thing, but he's not going to catch flack from Chopper later if you end up just tipping over in the street somewhere. Which looks likely at this point. ...Plus the fact that fine, yes, you tipping over in the street somewhere could possibly be problematic on its own merits. Che.]

[So Zoro swivels, unfolding from his seat to touch down on the wooden boards of the bridge but still leaning against the rail casually, and wow, look, suddenly a long, gleaming sword slides in, coincidentally obstructing your path. How did that get there. Zoro just examines Shuusui's black length with an idle eye. Possibly it needs another cleaning.]

...Hey. You're heading the wrong way.

[Y halo thar, sword. Sanji's very accustomed to being on the receiving end of you, but this is another matter entirely.

... And after that painfully ironic quip, unfathomable miles away, Sanji can sense his canon laughing at him. This is shaping up to be a really shitty day]

You wouldn't know the right way if it stabbed you, shithead. [However, in this context... mrrrr. He glances at the sword, then the swordsman, feeling for how much he can push his luck] I'm only gonna be out another hour or so. [Rubbing his reddened forehead.] If you're worried about Chopper stringing you up by your shitty earrings because you didn't stop me, I'll say I snuck past, alright?
