[She's planned on surprising her favorite navigator with breakfast-in-bed - no real reason, either, besides Sanji has woken up early and feels in oddly high spirits despite the awkward these last few days have been. And what a breakfast it turns out to be: an omelette with cheese scattered on top, pieces of bacon, fresh slices of apples, ( Read more... )

[Any other time, Miyabi may have questioned why her surrogate brother's voice sounded so...girly, but now wasn't the time. Her mind draws a blank for a few minutes' time as she just gapes into the pages of her journal in shock. Nami's gone? No, that just--she couldn't...!

giving a forced, quivering breath, Miyabi finally croaks, softly, almost afraid to raise her voice.]

sh-She's really...gone?

[The ache is so evident in her voice it almost hurts to hear just herself say it.]

[... She can't leave a reply hanging like this, much as she's ready to walk away from the journal. So Sanji answers, and her voice is still controlled]

We double-checked.

She's really gone.

[She knows Sanji well enough, by now, to know when he...she...is forcing an emotion, and that just adds salt to the wound that was already growing larger by the moment. Miyabi's hands shook as she held her journal, turning her face away from the camera with a strangled gasp.

Damn...damn, damn damn, damn!]

I...I-I'm sorry, Sanji.

[This really, really sucks. There's no response over here, just Sokka getting the message and closing the journal. Of course, he knows it's good for Nami. But everyone else is left behind again.

... and then it occurs to him how hard his sister is going to take this. Maybe he should go check on her.]

GONE!? How do you know she's just not kidnapped!? [Which... is totally better. Argh what has this place done to him.]

She can still come back!

[It's one matter handling the community at large, even if that's some of her closest friends.

Luffy's another matter.]

Her shit's gone, Luffy. Nami-san's side of the room is completely bare.

That doesn't mean anything! That just happens to people sometimes--! [He... thinks.]

It doesn't mean she's gone! She'll be back...

[She can feel that careful control snapping with every optimistic bullshitted word she hears, and her frown nearly turns feral] ... You want her back in this hellhole?!

I know we stick together as a crew, but she's free of this place! [They should be.... that's good news, even if there's a hole in place of where she should be]

[There's a strangled little noise, almost like a gasp, when she hears this announcement. The blow goes straight to her heart. That empty, ripping, tearing pain of loss - it rises up in the back of her throat like burning, like death.

Because that's what it feels like. It should be a victory, but it's not, it's bitter, and it hurts.

And she knows all the right things to say, knows that it's better for Nami - especially for Nami, who's been through so much here, who's been hurt so badly and come through so strong - to go home.

She realizes, belatedly, that the journal might have picked that up. She should say something.]

...

[But what can she say? 'You'll see her again?' They know that. Just like she knew it when Toph left, when Aang...

And they'll get to see her again, and when they do she'll remember them because even if she comes back there's no guarantee she'll remember ( ... )

[.........

for some reason, even though he knew it could happen-- he's never imagined certain people leaving. And a part of his mind still immediately thinks Robin and Zoro came back.

But he doubts that's what on your mind. Let alone the others. And Nami's been here so long... He doesn't say anything. But he will go walking later-- and maybe looking for Sanji.]
