History: One Piece Wikipedia
Personality: Hancock's personality is a complex one, formed by layers in order to protect the core, and very few people can say they know the woman well. For most people Hancock is nothing but an arrogant, selfish woman, used to getting whatever she wants and right when she wants it. No matter what her wish is, it shall be fulfilled. Raised in a world where strength equals beauty, Hancock is the most beautiful of all. Everything she does shall be forgiven in her opinion, and very few as of yet have showed enough willpower to deny that idea. She's a prideful woman and considers herself at the top of everything, and thus has no problem looking down on people; both metaphorically and literally. It's a habit of hers to look down on people so much that she basically bends backwards to look up. She's also cruel and ruthless; nothing shall stand in her way without being crushed or kicked, be it a puppy in her path or an opponent fighting her. Hancock also has no problem in using her body and her looks to her advantage, being a skilled liar and actress to pose as innocent and keep her true intentions hidden until she acts on them.

Intelligent and with tons of confidence, Hancock isn't impulsive by nature. However, she doesn't consider the consequences of her actions, allowing herself to be controlled by her whims and desires. Despite being admired by everyone in her country as the empress, Hancock has, and shows, little love for them. She endangers its safety by refusing to obey an order from the World Government, leaving her title as Shichibukai in danger of being retired. She admitted she preferred keeping her title despite not wanting to go to war, but it's hard to determine if this preference was fueled by her own pride and wish to be labeled with important titles, or for her country's safety. It's possible that deep in her core, the ice empress does care for her people, but too many layers cover the truth of her heart. A ruthless and cruel woman, Hancock cares a great deal to not show emotions at any moment. She considers them weaknesses to loathe and hide from everyone, including her sisters.

However, no matter how much Hancock denies her emotions and weaknesses, the truth is that it's them which fuel most of her life and external personality, as they were created to protect the fragile core that is really the pirate empress. Deep inside her, there's no place for pride or selfishness as all her soul is devoured by fear and shame. Shame of her past as a slave and fear of it being discovered. The mark of enslavement engraved on her back is a constant reminder of her weak younger self, tortured and used for the World Nobles’ enjoyment. The trauma is so large that she can't stand the idea of putting the mark on display, even if she is alone, as if afraid the mere air will despise her for having been a slave. After that fear is the hate, born from anger and fear that’s been nurtured for four years. Hate directed towards those who enslaved her, marking her as "less than human", who she sees represented in the men of the whole world. It matters not that the men she met while a slave were a mere handful that live in the world; if those monsters are admired and protected by the government, surely every man in the world must be just as vile as them. There is just one exception to this so far: Monkey D. Luffy, a man who managed to be exactly the opposite of everything Hancock thought a man was and even everything a woman should be. He fought to protect others who had saved him even though they’d later tried to kill him, he gladly threw away his chance of returning with his friends to save three strangers and, despite his strength, he had no problem in bowing his head in thanks to her. He’s a man who defied the World Nobles and regretted nothing, and capable of seeing her as a human despite having been marked as a slave.

Monkey D. Luffy is probably the only person besides Hancock's sisters and the elder Nyon ( the woman who took care of the sisters after they ran away from the World Nobles ) to see the real Hancock, who is nothing but a still scared teenager despite her age. He managed to move the ice barrier she had built over the years in a matter of hours, bringing a warmth to her heart unknown to most of the people of Kuja: love. Hancock is deeply in love with Luffy. Though her feelings are closer to that of a platonic first crush, her inexperience with love and her obstinacy in hiding feelings give this crush a great strength over her. While intelligent, Hancock's real knowledge is limited, and she has great doses of naivety. This is showed by her thinking that a tight hug equals marriage. Hancock can actually be quite a daydreamer in regards Luffy, getting lost in fantasies of how their romance will play out. Those fantasies don't always portray a sweet reciprocated romance. For example, upon discovering that Luffy has female crewmates, Hancock is overcome by jealousy, thinking Luffy will choose his female crewmates over her as romantic partners.

Overall, Hancock hasn't mentally matured much since she was twelve, when she was kidnapped and sold as a slave. She's no different from a stubborn spoiled teenager, trying to keep a tough exterior despite being quite sensible and vulnerable in the inside, and is always afraid and concerned about what others view her. She even feels like a stranger in her own country despite being the admired empress. She may be intelligence and sly in character, but Hancock is very naive in matters regarding her emotions. She has also proved that despite her usual lack of interest on anyone but herself, she does care deeply about those she considers close to her. So far these people are her sisters and recently Luffy; Hancock is ready to throw away everything to protect him as proved when she actually challenged Smoker to battle upon seeing him attack Luffy, ignoring the consequences of her actions and publicly declaring that Luffy was her beloved. During this event she showed a rage she had never shown. She was impulsive and lacked the calm arrogance she normally portrays, claiming to have never been so angry in her whole life.

Strengths:

Mental: Despite her traumatic experience as a slave, Hancock possesses a strong mind and will, as well as a great reign over her fears. Back when she told Luffy about her past, she managed to keep relatively composed even while her sisters were already in pure despair by just the memories of the events. She didn't allow herself to break down until she was done, and even then she limited herself a few tears before regaining composure soon after. She's intelligent and sly, easily coming up with crafted stories and lies, as well as strategies under pressure and danger. For instance, she managed to avoid having Luffy discovered at the body check by quickly turning the guard and the camera into stone, even if that hadn't been planned beforehand. She possesses a great will, shown as she's capable of using the Haöshoku Haki, an ability that only one in a million people can use. Though her actual level of mastery is unknown given the fact that the Kuja tribe shows great control over normal Haki, it can be assumed that she's pretty good at it.
Physical: Despite her slender figure, Hancock is actually a capable fighter with a great strength acknowledged even by the Fleet Admiral Sengoku of the Marines, and has been seen capable of breaking raw stone with a few attacks. She is, in fact, considered the strongest among the Kuja tribe in all fields, and given the Kuja tribe's motto of "strength is beauty", it's probable that the reason why they find her so beautiful is more because of her physical strength than just because of her great looks. She is also skilled enough to be able to strike Logia users, whose bodies are usually invulnerable due the nature of their powers, and is very adept in hand-to-hand combat, favoring kicking moves in tandem with her Devil Fruit abilities. Due her Devil Fruit powers, anyone with "dirty thoughts" about her (basically anyone who is charmed by her looks) becomes susceptible to a range of techniques that turn them into stone as long as they lack a way to block the attack emotionally, usually with fear or pain. Though she normally favors a certain pose when using her Devil Fruit powers, she has proved to be able to turn people into stone while fighting, so the pose may not really be required to use her powers.
Emotional: Hancock is very adept at hiding her emotions and keeping a tough and arrogant facade, capable of remaining imperturbable and calm. Her emotions are kept out of the way of her decisions for the most part. She's also very committed to both her sisters and Luffy. Her hard exterior may not show it often, but she cares a great deal about the three of them and does everything she can to support and protect them. Hancock is confident of her strength and abilities as well as her decisions, yet she is also confident in the strength of her sisters and Luffy, and puts a great deal of trust in them even if she doesn't show it openly.

Weaknesses:

Mental: Hancock is intelligent, but her “real” knowledge of things is very limited. In fact, it's not far-fetched to say that Hancock has the mind of a young teenager, having matured little in all those years during the trauma that her enslavement caused her, thus leaving her mentally stuck in that time period and age. She's especially ignorant of anything related to men and the relations between men and women, though her ignorance doesn't reach the levels of other members of the Kuja tribe. She has at least seen men a dozen times already; it’s just that her past has led her to wanting to know as little about them as possible. She's also prejudiced and is quick to make judgments about others, like how even before meeting them, she is jealous of Nami and Robin from Luffy's crew. Hancock is also stubborn about showing gratitude to others - except for Luffy - and often reacts bitterly to those debts as shown by her relationship with elder Nyon. The old woman was like a mother for her and her sisters at times of need, yet Hancock has no problems with being rude with her. This relationship is, once more, a good portrayal of how Hancock's mind resembles a young teenager, as they create a perfect picture of an obstinate mother and her stubborn and rebellious daughter.
Physical: Because of the Devil Fruit that she was fed, Hancock is unable to swim. If she's ever submerged in water her whole body will paralyze, leaving her unable to do anything until rescued or dead. Fortunately, as long as she remains not completely surrounded by water she won't have problems, and has been shown to be taking a bath. Her Devil Fruit powers have limitations as well; they can be blocked if the objective suffers a deep pain or a great fear. Her powers are also completely useless against people with "pure minds" or who aren't at all affected by her looks, as proved by the time she tried to turn Luffy into stone after he had seen her naked and it didn’t work.
Emotional: Despite Hancock's mastery at hiding her emotions, they can become unstable when the mark on her back is mentioned or exposed. Even showing it to people who know about it produces a great pain, and leaves her emotions raw and hard to control. The memories of her years as a slave do nothing but open the old wounds that can't heal. Because of this Hancock tries to ignore the past and future, keeping herself concentrated in the present, which makes her a person who doesn't consider the consequences of her actions. Her fear at being discovered and rejected by others is the worst one and leaves her with no emotional defenses at all. This is the reason why she keeps all emotions at bay, so as to not have any breakdowns. The only emotion (besides love since meeting Luffy ) that Hancock lets show on her face is anger or raw rage. Insulting her, disrespecting her or simply seeing the mark on her back will fuel a deep anger and hatred before any other emotion appears. Those who commit such a crime will be rewarded with death or petrifaction, and later a powerful kick that smashes the stone.
