I haven't done this list in years! But I started keeping track of my books again this year. Attempted to keep track of movies as well, but the file got corrupted sometime back in March and I couldn't be bothered to recreate it. Also, we see a lot fewer movies than we used to, and 2011 was nothing special for movies (Harry Potter 8 aside), so the ( Read more... )

Love your book list. I haven't talked to anybody else who has read the Pfeffer trilogy, I loved it too! Awesome books, some of the best post-apocalyptic stuff I've read. I was up all night reading the books and trashed the next day at work, but so, so worth it.
Also loved Bossypants and couldn't stop giggling while reading it. City of Glass/Ashes/Whatever left me cold and I stopped after 3 books. Maybe I'll try the steam-punky one, I tend to like those. Also enjoyed Caleb's Crossing and felt like Incarceron could have moved a bit faster. I found myself skimming and skipping sections. I did love the giant sentient prison concept though. Also enjoyed reading The Help.
I know we haven't talked in a while but I always enjoy your thoughts about books, so I was stalking your blog hoping you would write your top 10 books. Hope you're doing well!

I'm glad to hear that my opinion of Incarceron was in line with someone else -- I have trouble with audio books first because I get distracted easily and miss things, and second because the reader moves so much slower than I can read it myself, so I get bored easily no matter the story. I ended up listening to the sequel too, for lack of anything better to do during all the driving I do for my job, and it was just as slow-paced. Very cool concept though, I agree.

I agree about audio books. I also get bored. But Incarceron was too slow - a bit of a disappointment because I had heard it praised and really liked the concept of the book.

Oh, and I meant to say CONGRATULATIONS on the new book lover you are growing! Very excited to hear the happy news.

Thank you! I have no idea what books to provide a little boy, but I suspect they involve trucks, mud, and bugs, among other things.
