I am in New York.  Visiting New York, as usual, makes me want to move here.  The foods good, the people are friendly, and it's impossible to be bored.  It's a city I feel very comfortable with.  The trouble is that it's about 800 times harder to be unemployed in New York than to be unemployed in Portland.  And the job market in NY is better, but ( Read more... )

I bought the Epic Win app a few days ago.  I'm not sure if the fact that it's really helping my productivity is awesome or pathetic.

Yesterday I celebrated the 21st birthday of my friend S.  It was a lot of fun.  I rode in the kiddie seat of a Volvo station wagon for a while.

Today I woke up feeling like crap.  Not because I drank too much last night, but because yesterday afternoon I went to the gym and did weight training for my legs for pretty much the first time in my life.  ( Read more... )

I went to Things From Another World yesterday to ask about jobs.  I talked to the clerk for a while and he printed out an application for me and gave me a few tips.  He also mentioned that I was pretty much the only girl he'd ever seen apply.  I'm hoping that will work to my advantage.

Whew. The Tin House workshop is over. It was certainly an illuminating experience.

I spent the week in a state of chronic sleep deprivation and got my first real sleep last night. I feel more like myself now.

Tomorrow I'm sending out my resumé and cover letter to a few places.

I go to Peru on Wednesday. Woo!

I had a really nice fourth. Tiny barbecue with excellent company followed by blues fest and fireworks. I had a damn fine view.
