This was... on that very delicate line between 'oh guh' and 'oh eww' for me, and I rather like pain kink. I think it was how it didn't just eroticise pain, but actual injury/death/torn flesh. There was no separation between 'bad pain' and 'good pain', which you usually tend to get even in those heavily into it. So yeah, interesting.
