Last-minute sleepover. Girls are thrilled. I am a little "augh!" but will roll with it because really, what else is there to do? They are currently dinking around on the recorder (they just started recorder karate) and reading bits aloud from The Daring Book for Girls. Apparently it includes a bit on how to summon Bloody Mary.

I love the kitty!! He's adorable. If they had one like that here, I'd get him in a heartbeat! (even though I'm not totally a cat person.)

The kitten room at Operation Kindness is like a swirling vortex of cute. When we adopted Squeaky (who was already an adult when he joined us), there was a just-made-available little grey kitten I melted over. When we adopt from the shelter we choose adult cats since they often have a longer wait before finding a forever home.

Doolittle is a big change from my past experience with adult cats. He gets into everything and doesn't really have consistent routines like Squeaky yet. The routines will settle when he's older. I don't know about the getting into everything part. (:

The kitten has more of an undercarriage cleaning issue, hence the wipes. I think part of the trickiness is that he's a long-haired mix, but for now I wipe his belly down when I've got him lying next to me for brushing.

Laurel had a high-pitched fuss the other day that I responded to with "I'm sorry, I don't speak dolphin", followed several minutes later with "What's that, Flipper? Lassie says Timmy's in a whale?". She didn't get it but Kevin cracked up.
