Terry (mountain_hiker) attempted suicide overnight. He's in the hospital, but I've been told it doesn't look good. Colorado Springs PD is attempting to notify his next of kin; I advised one of his mountaineering friends that's in touch with the CSPD about the estranged family situation [ed - removed a few names of people I suggested be contacted

I've been pretty quiet on LJ the last few years - commenting but rarely posting.

I was among the folks that called CSPD overnight with his address, although I didn't find out what happened until this morning.

I'll update with any information as I get it.

I'm not the only person that called. The sergeant on duty I talked to most recently today (I talked to an officer that was on the call this morning and the sergeant on duty later in the day) said a lot of people called following what we now know was his last text.
