I can't imagine a hawk would be easier to kill than a deer (greater surface area, and the whole flying thing). They must be judging it using brain pan capacity. Which still doesn't make much sense.

I disagree with Outdoor Life's conclusion - deers are easily misled. How dumb are Santa's deer? They can FLY, so why don't they just fly off and dump that fat arse with the whip? Foxes are foxy and you can only be foxy or brainy, not both. So really, the hawk is the smartest animal. Take THAT Outdoor Life!
