Title: My Collision Course
Fandom: Scrubs
Pairing: JD/Cox
Rating: PG-13

It is not a good day for winning battles at Sacred Heart. Dr. Cox has spent two hours already this morning fighting the board for more insurance, arguing that this year’s batch of interns aren’t as clueless as they seem but need precautions, a lie he can’t disguise and is frankly tired of trying to. He is not to be crossed.

“Oh, Dr. Cox-”

Not that kid, not today, no, he thinks as JD runs to catch up with him.

“Do you have an extra pair of gloves?”
He stops in his tracks, blinking incredulously. “What?”

“We’re all out of latex gloves. You know, the good kind that's minty green and powder-free? At first I thought it was the janitor, but maybe it’s just poor foresight, on the other hand, we are a hospital, so it might just be that...”

As JD rambles on, Dr. Cox’s pent-up anger and desperation reach a boiling point, and suddenly he’s slamming Newbie against the wall, both of them breathing hard and scared shitless. He can’t remember how to tell JD to shut up, he can’t draw his eyes away from the other’s softening face, the sickening empathy (and is it heat, too?) in his gaze that’s coming closer. Too late, Cox realizes Newbie is going to kiss him, and when that warm, simpering mouth collides with his, he obliges with an almost playful snarl, too soon, he realizes he likes it. He likes this slurping tongue and how it tingles of cinnamon in his mouth, while his hands fumble to take in all of this younger, doughier and certainly paler body - and that awareness stops him dead; his clenched teeth bump the younger man’s as he tries to untangle himself from these sensations. JD moans, and Cox’s mind races for something to separate them - a girl’s name, words to string together a tirade - but all he can hear himself saying is Oh god, oh god, repeated and unthinking, without a trace of contempt.

“It’s okay,” JD croons, arms around Cox’s neck, those girlish lips searching for Cox’s tightened mouth.

“It is not eh-evar okay, Newbie.” JD winces as Cox reaches for his hands, squeezing them painfully in his trembling grip before throwing them off his shoulders. He needs something to crush, to defeat, but the only thing around is Newbie’s earnest, confused sincerity, and those goddamn blue eyes that might as well have cartoon hearts in them are all too vulnerable. “Listen, you-”

“You can call me JD, you know.”

“Newbie!” he almost yelps, voice choked with rage. JD backs away with a look of shock. “Get the hell away from me. Now.” He snaps his fingers weakly, his fury at JD spent, his irritation at himself for falling for those rainbows and puppy eyes just beginning.
