I've found that theater people can generally be prone to drama (obviously), but other than that they're a pretty nice bunch to hang with. Do you get paid?

i think that you should do it. Its usually fun to try new things and you might end up liking it. and if your only assistant stage manager the actual stage manager should be able to be more authoritative.
