Dude, thanks so much for adding me to your journal. Looks tasty!

Maybe tragedy is less defined as a specific genre because it encompasses a broader range of emotions and approaches than comedy? Not to oversimplify comedy since it's obviously complex. But it seems like comedy's basic goals (laughter, amusement) are more concretely attainable than the various nuanced shades of 'negative' emotions that tragedy would be playing off of (melancholy, fear, anger, despair).

Sorry, that was kind of a weak analysis.

yeah, sometimes i think comedy and tragedy are much more mixed or interdependent than is usually acknowledged. Paul Rodriguez once said that comedy is when an old lady walks down the street and slips on a banana peel, and tragedy is when that old lady is your grandmother. So the same event can be both, comedy and tragedy, depending upon perspective. hmm...but that banana peel thing really isn't that funny anyway, i think its more interesting why people are people so into that old bannana peel example? Seems like there are better examples of what good comedy is... I should think of what those better examples are...any suggestions? oh glad you stopped by!
