Regardless of a person's position on the specific issue, an argument that is based on someone claiming their motive is of love doesn't necessarily justify the act. Should a mother and her son also be allowed to marry? How about brother and sister? Is there no difference between interracial marriage and same gender marriage? Apparently many disagree, even in what is arguably the most liberal state in the union.
It's sort of like saying anything natural is acceptable. Just because there is homosexual behavior in several species in nature doesn't necessarily make it okay. If that is true, if that is the test, it also has to apply to all behaviors - murder, incest, pedophilia, and the like.
And be sure you notice that I did not offer my opinion of whether I agree with the law or not. My point is that both arguments (of love, or natural) don't stand up to the test of the scientific approach. They aren't valid arguments to make the point. If you assume you know my position is negative, I will quickly show you that you are wrong.
For me, at least, it's just a matter of equal rights for all orientations. If certain organized religions don't want to allow same sex marriage, that's fine. And yes, sometimes Keith gets a little melodramatic.
