The Interplanetary File-system must be one of the most interesting technical concepts I've come across lately.

From a friend who's pretty deeply into that kind of thing.

It actually came in response to me suggesting that, if we ever colonise space, we'll have to reinvent Usenet to deal with the latency. And though, sadly, there isn't really much 'interplanetary' about the interplanetary filesystem, it was reason enough to mention it.
