All he ever did was read. It was embarrassing. No war, no sides to pick, no Potters to intimidate. Only a lonely, miserable wizard with too much time on his hands and a roommate that didn't know the meaning of the word boundaries. "I don't suppose you'd fancy a jump on the trampoline?" Having lost all her clothes to the mysterious cycle of laundry, Luna has had to settle for a pair of boy's shorts and a too-thin undershirt. She rescues the book, recognizing it as one of the only true treasures this place offers, and then sits beside him. "I don't suppose Malfoys jump."

He really has been moody, moreso than usual, but it's a mystery to her.

"I just came from there." As if he might have a jump if the trampoline had been closer. Of course, he wouldn't have, no matter how much she pestered him.

"I see you've abandoned all modesty. What a nice turn of events," he muttered sarcastically. Over the months, he'd seen more of her than he'd ever cared to.

"It's not a turn of events if this is how it's been all along," she informs him. She nudges him with a bare shoulder. "I haven't any reason to be shy of you, do I? It isn't as if you like me any, so you won't care."

Luna looks up at him, examining him closely. "You look particularly melancholy.

At this point, it wouldn't matter, he thought with a kind of resigned misery, his shoulders slumping with a heavy sigh and his arms folding in closer against his sides.

"Not any more than usual," he said, then, turning to her, he did something he almost never did. He asked her a question, an opinion, and he genuinely cared about the answer. "Don't you feel useless here?"
