FIFA has bigger fish in its freezer, whereas in sports like swimming or gymnastics, the Olympics represents the highest level of competition and the one that will garner its athletes the most recognition.
*nod* That is the key argument of those who now want men's football to be taken out of the Olympics all together, and I can see their point.
I'm so, so glad Barcelona have decided to relent over Messi. [Most likely, Guardiola listened to Leo, and then went and glared at Laporta and the technical director until they gave in too. *g*]
Lol China's men's team just drew with New Zealand [my country of birth vs my adopted home]. Ahahahaha. I like the Chinese women's team, but the men are an embarrassment.

Pep for the win, obviously!
I think it was the NYT blog that made the point that the Chinese women's team have the best haircuts. Han Duan's bowlcut/mullet hybrid is sort of amazing.

The best part is, she doesn't pull it back during games either. It's just a free-flowing mane of a bowllet (as I have just christened it, ahahah).
