[The video feed clicks on, and the first thing to greet anyone who happens to be looking at the journal is the face of a ginger-colored kitten being dangled in front of the journal by Jack, who will become visible once he sits back a bit.]

Thus, Gilbert would like to be just about anywhere but said living room, but unfortunately for him he sort of has to go through it to get out the front door. And given that his name is also on that draft list, he kind of needs to go get some supplies before he leaves. Not weapons, no- he just intends to be certain there's enough food in the icebox for the housemates who aren't coming along to survive on, lest they be forced to try their own cooking.

So he'll just be trying to do his best imitation of a shadow as he sneaks his way toward the door, intending to avoid both Jack and kitten if at all possible. Seeing as how it's Gilbert, though, well, he's sort of doomed to failure.]

[Jack is so attuned to Gilbert's not-exactly-sneaky ways by now that he's aware of the other's presence before he gets even halfway to the door, though it isn't until Gil's hand is on the doorknob that he finally speaks up.]

I hope you weren't planning on going out without gloves and a scarf. Have you looked out the window? It looks like we're in for quite a storm if those clouds are any indication.

[Gilbert freezes in place for an instant before his decidedly un-gloved hand releasing the doorknob again as though he'd suddenly discovered it was red-hot. He glances back over his shoulder at Jack, trying not to look like a guilty child- he isn't one, after all, hasn't been for years, and wishes being around Jack didn't make him feel that way.]

[But Jack just continues to smile, ignoring the fact that the kitten is now attempting to kill the end of his braid. It's true that Gil isn't a child any longer, but his judgment isn't always the best, especially where looking out for himself is concerned. That's one thing that hasn't changed one bit.]

You can borrow a pair of my gloves if you can't find yours.

[Elliot has to pass through the living room to go upstairs, and when he notices Jack allowing a kitten to crawl all over him, he pauses. It doesn't take long for him to realize that this kitten is a new kitten-it definitely doesn't belong to Ada.
