vulcans are touch empaths/telepaths! (mindmeld anyone?) and spock himself is notably gifted even amongst his own race. he's potentially capable of hearing loud thoughts from, apparently across the galaxy.
that said, vulcans are also ridiculously strict about their abilities. which means he is never, never, ever going to read your thoughts unless it is
a)a life or death situation
b)chain of command issues an order that makes it necessary
c)we be getting married
this is mostly a heads up for the sake of posterity, because if the situation arises i will totally talk to you first. but i guess it also doubles as a reverse permissions post as well? THE HANDS ARE LIKE A NO-GO ZONE. but your character isn't going to know that. short explanation is that they're the equivalent of sensors? spock will always have a mental wall up of course, but uh. he'll still go weird about it. TLDR FINGER TOUCHING IS VULCAN MAKING OUT JSYK
