your post about the grandeur of everyday life reminded me about one of my favorite movies, Amelie. In particular the scene in which she discovers the true identity of the Photo Booth repair man. He's just a guy who fixes the photo booth, but he gets to have this god-like status in the their eyes. It's so silly and gorgeous. *sigh* I love that movie.

I am a fan of the movie as well and I think by referencing it, you have risen a great point. I think photographs can be thought of as similar to verse letters and novels about ordinary things. Photos frame their subjects, draw special attention to them and forces the observer to look at the individual(s) in a different way, as more than ordinary, perhaps even as special.
