Something quite horrible has happened today. My car has been stolen from my driveway and I am completely devestated. I had many personal and valuable objects in my car and now they are all lost. I worked all throughout high school and college to pay for that car and I have worked these years of university to pay for the insurance and now I have ( Read more... )

oh Janice! duder, I am so sorry...it sucks to loose things when you have no control over it.

while I can't get your car back for you, I can talk to my mom. She works at the parking office. I'll see what I can find out about stolen parking passes. Maybe they can refund some of your money? I'll do my best to help.

Courage!

Thanks Meg, I would appreciate anything you could do on that front. I asked myself and was told I would have to pay $40 to get a replacement and just can't do that right now. Plus, I am not sure I will have a car to drive in the first place. Worst of all, my insurance has denied my claim and I won't be getting any money for my car because of some loop hole, I have just lost everything I really owned and there is nothing I can do about it. I am so distraught and now I have to consult a lawyer, I just can't deal with all this.

Thanks again for your concern and help,
Janice

I dont know what to say other then I wish you the best and hope to see you in class if you are not there please keep up the posts. Hang in there, the only thing we can count on is to become disappointed every now and then. I have to go read your previous posts.

I have wonderful news! A police officier called my house this morning and my car has been found. It has sustained some damage, but it is fixable; however, it will still be a while before my situation of getting to school will be resolved. Also, it is unclear whether all of my personal effects, including my parking pass have been recovered, but I am allowed to see the car tomorrow once the investigation and evidence collection has been completed and I will find out then the status of my stuff. Thanks to everyone for your concern and support, I cannot say how much kind words have helped in this situation.

Thanks again!

awww Janice - that majorly sucks - but thank God they found it!! I'm glad it's still in decent condition and you'll be able to drive it. Any word on the cds and other things? I would be devastated if my cd collection was taken from me. But at least you got the most important thing back - the car!

I'm so glad they found your car!!

Was your stuff still in it? I hope going and seeing it was helpful more than traumatic!

If you want my notes from class if you can't make it, I'd be happy to send them.

Hi Sarah, I actually just returned from seeing my car. It was so sad, my window was damaged, my stereo stolen and the entire ignition area was riped apart. Strangely, my "Taking Back Sunday" CD was also stolen, but not the case, just the CD, but thankfully that was the only CD out of the many I had in the car that was stolen. Also, an unbrella, my keyboard, my mittens and two pairs of sunglasses were stolen. It was good to see was that my work apron and vest was still there, but not my work gloves, which is a bummer, but not that big a deal. Greatest of all my parking pass and access card were still there, in fact they were neatly tucked away in the side of my driver door storage area.

So, it was a very sad experience, but I do have to remind myself that this is a good thing, my car has been recovered!

Also, I would very much appreciate your notes from tomorrow's lecture, because I am not quite sure whether I will be able to make it to class or not.

Thanks so much for your concern and generous offer,

Janice Oliveira

Hi Janice,

Happy to be of help.

I'm sorry about your car being damaged. I'm glad you have (almost all of) your CDs and your parking pass & the other stuff that was left. Wow. What a weekend for you.

Anyway, I'm not very good at being timely (I procrastinate BIG TIME) but I'll try to e-mail you the notes sooner rather than later (if you end up not making it to class tomorrow).

Hi Sarah,

As I am sure you noticed I was not in lecture today, I went to the towing compound where my car was sent by the police for storage and I got it towed from there to a body shop. Hopefully, by the end of the week my car will be repaired and I will be in class Monday.

Thanks again for offering your notes, I appreciate it so much. Whenever you get the chance you may email the notes to me at jolive@yorku.ca
