my nice, long story
holy shit this is gonna be long..........................
ok, well let's see. first of all i went on vacation. my mom took me and my brothers to Luray, VA for a week, where we met some friends of ours from CT. Even tho the town was a blotch of NOTHING w/ caverns in the middle we still had fun. we actually got to the hotel about 10 minutes apart, which was good. the rooms were clean, like REALLY CLEAN, but we did have a lot of flies b/c we left the doors open and they have the outdoor walkways so yeah...... lol. but we went up to the mountains and went on a few hikes in the mornings. then in the afternoon we came back and went to the pool, which was boring b/c the pool water wuz narsty! lol. so i wouldn't go in (yeah, spoiled lil princess i no i no). one morning we went canoeing/kayaking. that was fun. we only went for about 2 hours on a short piece of the river b/c we didnt think the little boys (Jacob (7), Lucas and Evan (both 6)) would be able to control themselves for the longer trip. my mom and my little brothers got a canoe, linda, evan, and aud(13) got a canoe then ben, greg (16, only 2 weeks older then me), and i each got kayaks. so i just kinda went ahead of everybody else cuz i definately needed my alone time. i'm sorry but i just couldn't stand being around FAMILY for the whole time. i mean i love 'em and everything but i'm not really able to get along w/ my family for a while. so i just kinda let myself think about random shit, like moving (finally), my boyfriend (<3), my friends, my family, even skool. lol. that was definately the best morning of the entire trip. i just kinda sat there and relaxed in my own little world. that's why i LOVE to kayak. and i hate that i dont get to do it that often, so it was awesome. that was pretty much the highlight of my trip. we went to the luray caverns, um......went to some battlefield which was gay. yeah that was about it. o wait, i MUST tell about the movie theater!!!!!!!! lol. aud n i took our younger brothers to see shrek 2 n we walked in and were like WTF!!?????? there's like 4 rows of seats and a really small screen thats about the size of a big screen tv, you know the ones that people have in their little home theaters and such. it was sooo funny though. b/c they had all these weird asian decorations, and some wierd old couple was runnin' the place. i dunno it wuz......odd. but to continue w/ my action packed week....lol.
over vacation my dad is at home, working and making sure everything is ready for the closing on friday. well, on tuesday or wednesday he calls up my mom and tells her we have an issue w/ the homeowners insurance. apparently our regular insurance company will never cover this house b/c it's had way too many claims on it in the past few years. so we had to find a different insurance company. that took about a day. then on thursday my dad did the final walk-through before the closing. he called my mom to tell her that there is a "hole he can fit his finger in" in the shower (in what would be the kid's bathroom). so my parents had to get a second inspection done and such to find out what the sellers would have to do to take care of this hole. we got home in time for the inspection which was set for friday afternoon (after our scheduled closing time), so the whole family went. when mom and i went into the bathroom to find out what the hole looked like we realized my dad hadn't explained it well enough. it wasn't just a HOLE, it really looked like someone had taken a sledge hammer and hit the fiberglass wall, creating a massive crack and knocking a chunk out. i'm sure the image in your head now is exaggerated but w/e. so my parents disscussed the issue of mold behind the shower w/ the inspector b/c my mom is allergic to some types of mold and we needed to know what was back there. he said the only way that you could PROPERLY check for mold is to remove the entire shower and replace it. so the sellers have this whole issue about no they won't do it blah blah blah. and now they changed their minds and all this other stuff. so we have a lawyer helping us to make sure that we can get out of the contract (we have multiple reasons as to why) because my parents feel like the sellers are lying about things that were not included in the disclosure statement and shouldn't have balked at the shower issue the way they did. so no, we did not close on friday, and no we did not move into a house at all.
we spent the remainder of the weekend fixing all our utilities, paper, fone, mail, etc. and looking for another place to live. My parents picked a house. yup, in one day, just like before. This time it's a shea home, and it's in Providence Pointe. It's a new community off Lancaster Highway, right on the NC/SC border. We're just on the NC side. literally. The lot my parents put a hold on is the last cul-de-sac lot available, which is only available b/c the original people that put a hold on it didn't qualify for their mortgage or something so they lost the lot and people that had called asking for it never showed the day they said they would so they lost it too! This lot backs up to community common area with trees that will never be cut down. The common area ends near a creek which is part of a watershed thing or something and on the other side of that is south carolina! lol. But there are about a hundred feet of trees on the SC side that can't be cut down b/c of something to do with the watershed so there will never be any construction behind the house. The house is pretty big. My room would be downstairs, and my parents are going to upgrade the powder room to a full bath which will be MINE! lol. and then the rest of the bedrooms, and a bonus room will be upstairs. I'll post the floor plan in a seperate entry along w/ my vacation pictures. Anyways, this house will be new construction and won't be ready for at least six months......which means we'll be staying in the apartment until January. Just under a year, from three months to eleven. hm.......! lol.
So yes, that was the major drama. Today we unpacked the entire apartment, and then ashley came over and we made my room look like some one actually lives in it. we figure, if i might be here for six more months, i might as well make it mine! so i hung up my baskin robbins light. i thought it'd be retarded but it actually looks really cool. i also hung up some other stuff: a pepsi poster, all the hats and visors that were in my room, my paper lantern chain from garden ridge (woohoo tracy), a hook for my purses, and (this is really cool and ashley's idea!) i took all my mardi gras beads and used tacks so that the way they hang on my wall spells my name. Later this week i will get my dad's camera and take some pictures so everybody can see. lol. There's just a few more things i'll need to do, like get rid of the papers on my floor, and find my radio's power cord (that's always helpful....). I also have to decide if i wanna keep my bed the way it is and i need to get nails from my dad's apt. so i can hang my bulletin board. and i think i might go buy some posterboard or just cork board to make a collage thing with all the starburst wrappers i have (another idea by ashley) and then i think i'm going to put a nail through the back of all my altoids tins and then put them on the cork board (dad's idea). i'm not sure yet. lol. but i'm excited. maybe it's not my real bedroom, but at least i feel more like i'm home instead of in a temporary place for a long time. you know?
tomorrow i have to work. blah. so i doubt there will be much of an entry! but don't say i hadn't warned you about this one.................
