One would think that in a situation as grave as this one can at times be, certain residents would have better things to do than destroying community property. I know there are rather lax laws in place here, but that is no reason to abuse them.

[The weather has been mild today. Nephry can be found in the plaza, sitting near the fountain and enjoying ( Read more... )

As with everything, people will abuse certain circumstances. I'm amazed no one has really been injured yet. Or at least we have not heard of it.

Have you been faring well, Nephry?

That doesn't make it right, Saphir.

...Yes, I have.

I never said it was. I merely implied that people have their impulses, and will take advantage of certain things when given the chance. It's within their nature as the filthy, uncivilized miscreants they really are.

[Dist doesn't like that little pause there, missy. Don't make him play twenty questions.] You've not been afflicted by this particular experiment, then?

I wish you'd be more careful with your word choices.

Oh, no, I have. Earlier this morning I ended up in front of the bakery.

Someone's been destroying books...

Yes, I heard. As though there is no better and less destructive way to spend your time here.

Books cannot defend themselves. This is horrible...

Perhaps they will regenerate, as they belong to the library.

[Asch hadn't intended to be out by the lake. He'd been just about to attach his sword to his belt and go out for a practice session when suddenly- poof! He'd been teleported, mid-reach, to... one of the lakes. Great. So not only was he hours away from the house, but he was unarmed and couldn't practice.

Instead of stomping back to the house, Asch had opted to wait by the dock and see if he'd be teleported again, hopefully somewhere closer. He'd only been waiting a matter of minutes when someone suddenly appears over the lake and falls right in, catching his attention, and he stands to get a better look. What the hell?]

[This whole thing came as such a surprise. As soon as she hit the water and realized what had happened, she took a breath. A big one. But she was already underwater at the time, so when she finally does surface she's coughing and struggling to stay up]

[Oh, someone fell in.

...Wait, what? Where the hell did she come from? Had she been teleported like him? There isn't much time to ponder over it, since she sort of looks like she's drowning, so Asch pulls off his tabard and dumps it on the dock, diving in to swim over to where she's struggling. No one else seems to be around to help, so it looks like it's either him or she drowns.]

[She'd really rather not drown, if it's all the same to him. Before he quite gets there she'll have gone under a few more times, and the last time keeps her there - she won't be coming up again, though she's still fighting to]

[A loud yell is heard followed by a splash in the plaza, the waters of the fountain rippling outward with a muddy cloud that had begun to form around whatever had landed. A small misting of the splash drifts by where Nephry sits.]

Ah! [Nephry gets up quickly, staring at the fountain and looking for the person at the source of all the water]

[Slowly, from the depths of the water, rises a mud-streaked face, wet black and grey hair matted with dirt, mud, leaves, and several twigs jutting from the mass. The eyes and brows are set as if giving a silent, discontented sigh, bubbles frothing from mouth that loomed underneath the surface.
