Now that the weather is more favorable for it, and with so many chances to take advantage of it...on the advice of a friend, I would like to learn how to swim. It is...difficult to learn such things in my home, and so I never did.

Of course, I would need to find a willing teacher, first.

You can't swim either?

The waters around Keterburg are far too cold to swim in, often even into the summer.

That makes sense...

I need someone to help me, too. Do you think they could teach the both of us?

Assuming someone agrees, I don't see why not. I will ask.

I cannot vouch for my skills as a teacher, Miss, but I can try. I can, at least, promise that under my supervision you would not drown.

[He's never taught anyone to swim before, okay? And he really doesn't remember how his father taught him. ...Actually, Horatio's pretty sure it was akin to throwing him in a lake and waiting for him to make it to shore.

But he can certainly try. Knowing how to swim, after all, can save lives.]

Not drowning is a good step.

...I apologize for asking, but have we met?

We have not, ma'am.

Captain Horatio Hornblower, of His Britannic Majesty's Royal Navy.

I apologize for being so forward without an introduction.

I'm not familiar with your monarch. [But a naval officer ought to know how to swim, at least.]

No apology is necessary. I'm Nephry. [as she leaves off her title and everything]

Swimming's not hard to learn.

Are you thinking of practicing in the lake or at the beach?

I imagine it is considerably easier as a child, like most other things.

...I wasn't sure. The lake is closer and calmer, isn't it?

Yes, it is.

Then...that is the better choice.

I've had someone offer. However, I would prefer to learn from someone I already know, if possible. I don't mean to be difficult...but I think it would put me more at ease.

That's very kind of you, Minato. I don't want to impose, but two friends of mine are also interested in learning. If you would rather decline because of that, that's perfectly fine.

...Both of you...

[Good grief, such aquatic fail.]

Is something wrong? ...I believe learning was your suggestion.

...There's nothing wrong with it. [It's a good suggestion, he's not about to argue with himself.] It's good that you'll finally be learning.

I wasn't aware that Luke, also, didn't know how to swim.
