While I can't speak for other worlds, in Auldrant we celebrate the "new year" in the middle of winter, shortly after the longest night. It's a bit different from the way things work here...but regardless, I am curious as to how many other worlds share a similar tradition.

Dinner, you say? Sounds entertaining. Has anyone declined yet? [Asch was certain to be difficult, and Dist probably wasn't going to find this a very enjoyable idea either. And if Asch found out that this was to be a birthday party, well...]

Who will be making the preparations? I suppose you intend certain celebrations to be a surprise?

...I didn't mean any sort of large or elaborate celebration, for them. Just something in acknowledgment. Certainly nothing embarrassing or forward.

But why not? Surely the two would appreciate all the hard work.

Because I prefer to err on the side of the simple, I guess.

[Better drop whatever you're doing, because Anise is charging over to wherever you are as soon as she finishes hearing the message.]

Hey, Nephry! That's a great idea!

Will you mind helping with the preparations?

...'Free to decline'? Why? It sounds like a great idea to me! And I'll bet it's been a while since everyone was able to unwind and find something to celebrate together.

[But organizing a gathering of this kind is bound to be a lot of work for just one person. Maybe she could use a hand.] Is there anything I can do to help, Nephry?

It's true, we rarely celebrate anything here.

[It helps, to have support from so many of them.]

If you would like to cook something? Ion suggested that as a way for everyone to help.

That's too bad. I know I haven't been here long, but I've already heard about a couple holidays other worlds celebrate - Thanksgiving and recently something called "Christmas". They seem like they'd be a lot of fun.

[Have a "hm"-ing sound. A pot luck is one thing, but he has no idea what everyone else's tastes are in food. What do lords and princesses normally eat anyhow?] Sure, I wouldn't mind, although I can't guarantee it'll be anything fancy.

Something "fancy" isn't required. It's just dinner.

[Well, Luke would never turn down an opportunity to be with his Aulrant peeps, especially if it's over an Auldrant holiday.]

That sounds like a great idea! Do we need to bring anything, or...?

[In a moment, it'll come to him that... certain people he does not want to be there will be there.]

You can, if you would like to. Ion suggested making that an option.

I'll, uh... get something from the bakery. [Because Asch lord knows that he can't cook well at all.]

Dessert has been spoken for, but I don't see why we couldn't have more than one.
