I should have known it wasn't Annie the moment you wrote "baggle". The only reason I am even speaking to you right now is that I am really seeing this as Jeff and Britta getting final and actual closure on their romantic relationship so they can finally move on. Yep.

SHE IS A WIZARD.

Yeah I do love Jeff and Britta's relationship in that I think it's one of those freak cases of friends being able to have all the sex and still be friends afterwards. And there will always be that level of intimacy between them.

I think that comes from the fact that they're so similar, which is exactly what prevents them from dating, but also kind of requires them to be friends, you know? They can run off and spend two weeks on vacation together because they know exactly why the other one needs to run away.

And then, like, they can bone and stuff.

Since this was post-summer, I assumed it was after the finale and I understood that Britta and Troy were an item after season 3. So the fic's scenario would never have occurred to me unless you explicitly stated it beforehand. Maybe not everyone saw them that way after the season finale, but I perceived it as audience consensus. If that's wrong, I read the episodes wrong. :). Been known to happen.

I'm not sure it's canon that Troy/Britta are an item. They've technically been on a date, but nothing was really resolved in "Intro to Finality" except for the fact that they hugged. They're on a bit of better footing for a potential relationship than Jeff and Annie are, because they've basically mutually acknowledged some sort of ~feelings, but I don't think they'd defined as being in a relationship at this point because they truly haven't acted on anything (apart from shmoopy glances here and there). But that's just personal observation!

Well, that was a rollercoaster packed into just 1,200 words - first it looked like happy J/A, then sad J/A, then infuriating J/B, and then uplifting future J/A and B/T. Of course I ignored the warning on MM about a lack of J/A, and I certainly missed the baggle line until the second reading. I didn't miss Jeff smiling so wide on the phone, however, so that served as some nice J/A light.

I recall reading on Twitter that you had maryarrr beta a fic several weeks ago that included smut. Is that coming next now that you're back in the fic groove?

I'm glad you caught him smiling on the phone - I wanted to throw in some references throughout that, while they were having fun on the trip, it wasn't REALLY what they wanted. Neither one's truly happy until they're back in Greendale and finally decide to do something with all their feelings.

May I ask why J/B was infuriating? Like, the ship itself, or were you just caught off-guard that it was Britta?

That fic is coming soon, hopefully. I've been in a writing funk for a while, and so the fic Mary beta'd has been sitting on my computer, waiting for me to edit it, which I keep putting off, because a lot of rewriting is involved. But now that I'm slowly getting back into it, hopefully I'll finish that one and post it very soon :D

I was caught off guard, although I probably shouldn't have been. But the whiplash between thinking it was becoming a sad J/A fic, and then seeing it was J/B after all, was still strong in a few ways until I took it all in a second time.

I don't even know if I'm fundamentally capable of writing a sad J/A fic. I'm sure I'll prove myself wrong eventually, but I just don't think I can do it. Originally, I was planning for it to be Annie in New York, and it was actually going to end sort of sadly, but then I decided it had to be Britta, which meant J/A HAD to end happily.

Ah, okay. I was worried that it being Britta totally took you out of the fic. Clearly I'm just a master of manipulation :P
