Fun fact: alcohol inhibits REM sleep. So when I went to sleep sober (I don;t know how long it's been), it all came crashing back. Long, twisting sequences that made no sense but I tried to make sense of in the dream anyway. Dreams so real I was sure I was awake, and at the center of some vast conspiracy, or that I was insane. At one point I saw Starla on the couch with me, and thought I was finally awake, until she started laughing and apologized that she couldn't keep a straight face anymore.
Bizarre scenes from rooftop restaurants, twisting shopping malls, sinister arcades, waterfalls that flowed from building to building, vast underground freeways, a melting Waffle House with melting people inside, speeder bikes, disintegration beams, guild halls full of obnoxious avatars, and even jet packs.
I got upset that I was still dreaming so vividly after so long. I was worried that I wasn't getting any rest, despite being asleep (and knowing it). The person I talked to -- who was shifting from various TV and real-life people I know -- threatened to unleash my worst nightmares on me if I didn't shut up and go with the flow. I kept asking questions and he/she made some aggressive movement and changed the scene to a dark room with shadows criss-crossing all over the ceiling, the only noise a far-off fan. I realized I was finally awake.
