Trinity Blood, WTF?!

Ok. I LOVE the show, Trinity Blood. It's an absolutely wonderful anime. Beautifully drawn, great story, and i love the plot. Anything involving gun-toting priests and basically a Vatican that kicks ass (literally), is awesome. This show was riddled with religion as well as action and politics. Plus, we can't forget the vampires ^_^

When the last episode aired I was completely depressed. First of all, i was just barely recovering from the blow that was Father Abel Nightroad's (my favorite character, as well as the main character of the show) death in two episodes prior to the final one. I was completely shocked that he would die before the end of the series. And, like Sister Esther, i was feeling extremely blue. Come to find out his dead body is given some kind of elixer or liquid, i don't know what it was, but he comes back to life (wooo, go Vatican!) and i'm happy again. So, there's the final battle between Abel and his evil brother, Cane, who wants to destroy the world and bring about a new age. So they're fighting and what not, and it's intense and the screen goes black.

At first i was like, "Awww, the episode's over already?" because i didn't know it was the last episode. Then there's a scene where Esther is being crowned the queen of Albion and all the AX priests and other people are around her being all happy as the Pope blesses her, etc. So, i'm thinking, what the hell just happened? So, Abel defeated Cane, the Contra Mundi, and the Order of Rosen Kreuz? Wow. Um, way to go. Now...where's Abel?

After Esther's whole coronation, the ending credits start to roll while another scene is played. Abel is making his way across some grassy plain and we see the Earl of...i forgot ^^;;...the young vampire that Abel and Esther accompanied earlier in the series, waiting for Abel. He wants to join Abel on his journey...to kill Cane and destroy Rosen Kreuz, etc. etc. At this point i'm like, "Whaaaaa?!" And then, after Abel swears to killing Cane at all costs, even if it means, searching and fighting until the end of time, he was going to do it, and the Earl agreed. And then...end.

I was soooooo pissed w/ this outcome! Such an open ending but they're not going to even continue the story! I want to see more! They can't just end it like that!

-I want to see more of Abel and the Earl's journey.
-I want to see the resolution of the battle between the Vatican (more specifically Abel) and the Order of Rosen Kreuz, Contra Mundi, and Cane. They will come back, so why can't we see the battle?!
-I wanted to see more time spent between Abel and Esther. He came back from the dead and went straight into the battle w/o being w/ Esther. She (and i, dang it!) had been crying over his body and blaming herself for his death and we don't get to see anything between them after the battle between Abel and Cane?! I liked their chemistry and Abel really meant a lot to Esther, which is why it would have been nice to see a small scene between them before the end of the episode, and before he left on his journey.
-I loved how Abel was a mysterious character. He kind of reminded me A LOT of Vash the Stampede from Trigun. He always acted silly, light-hearted, and had a smile on his face. He had a warmness about him. But when he got down to business, he was real serious and kicked major ass. Plus, he was a Crusnik, so when he turned into that...well, he was pretty hardcore: red eyes, black wings, deep, devilish voice, fangs, etc. As much as i loved his serious nature, and how awesome he was when he was in battle and fighting the enemy, seeing him, in the final scene, all angry and battle-worn, and w/ a somewhat sad look in his eyes, left a bad taste in my mouth. It would have been nice to see a real happy ending (not realistic, but still), or at least some type of resolution for Abel himself, so that he would no longer be the sad priest at the end. Too bad.

Overall, i was just mad that it ended the way it did. As an avid fan of anime, i should be used to this by now. Every once in a while i'll see an anime that ends happily, everything resolved, everything better. But in the really really good anime/mature anime, not the case. So i should have expected this. But it doesn't make it much easier to deal w/. Sigh. I really hope the creators will continue the story. Bring more episodes. It just seemed too short. Maybe they will, i don't know. I just really hope that's the case.
