- CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Jaster Rogue
CODENAME: doesn't have one yet
SERIES/SOURCE: Rogue Galaxy
AGE: 17
GENDER: male
OCCUPATION: Bro'hood

BACKGROUND:
Jaster was born in southern Egypt. As an infant, he was abandoned on the steps of a Coptic church and taken in by the priest, Raul, who then raised him as his own.

At least, that's what Raul tells him. Unbeknownst to Jaster, his father is a fellow called Desert Claw (a Badass Normal bounty hunter of some repute), and his mother was an alien. After she died of some obscure Earth illness, his father left him with his friend Raul and set out to become the world's greatest deadbeat.

In any case, he had a relatively normal childhood for a kid with no parents. Even though Raul did a great job of raising him, though, Jaster always wanted to get out there and see the world. Or, you know, why not the rest of the galaxy while he was at it? The money wasn't there, but the dream was.

Then one day, he finally got his chance. Through a series of misunderstandings, he managed to convince a team of bounty hunters that he could lead them to their target (who happened to be Desert Claw). Unfortunately for him, even before their boat got to Madagascar, they figured out he couldn't, and promptly tossed him overboard. Even more unfortunately, he was a pretty weak swimmer, and thus it was that Jaster washed up half-drowned on the resplendent shores of Genosha. He was of course taken to a hospital, but through a combination of mixed-up medical records, international red tape, and some lazy asshole who figured it would be easier than the paperwork, he was mistakenly identified as a mutant and summarily put to work. That was two years ago.

Jaster didn't take well to the whole slavery thing, of course, especially since he wasn't a mutant and had no superpowers (that he knew of) and shouldn't have been there to begin with. He sometimes tried to do the right (but dumb) thing and stand up to his captors directly, but more generally took a passive-aggressive approach toward them. He survived the recent explosion (virtually unharmed, too) through sheer luck, as his force field power chose that moment to randomly manifest for the first time. He still has no idea that's what happened, though.

PERSONALITY:
Jaster's a nice guy. Too nice for his own good, sometimes. You might call it a hero complex. He's fiercely loyal to his friends, difficult to offend, and likely to be the one to spare the villain or give them benefit of the doubt. While he's not a bad fighter, he'd rather talk it out than duke it out. Nevertheless, once he knows what he's gotta do, he's got the courage to plow ahead and do it.

... On the flipside of that, though, he tends to avoid or bumble things he doesn't fully understand. That is, complex issues, awkward social situations, things that don't have a black-and-white solution, and so on. Sometimes he'll lie if he thinks telling the truth will end worse, but he's a pretty bad liar. Once he's made a friend, he cares deeply about what they think of him.

Recent experiences aside, he's a dreamer and idealist who ultimately wants to make a difference in the world. He's got a certain wanderlust in him, and can't stand being cooped up for very long.

APPEARANCE:
Average height for his age, maybe a little underweight due to circumstances. Lean but pretty well-muscled, pretty tanned. Blond hair, feathery on top but cropped close on the sides; blue eyes. His most distinctive feature is an unusual birthmark on his left cheekbone. Also he's got some scars from his two years on Genosha, mostly around the neck area.

POWERS:
Jaster's powers are inherited from his alien mother. Her powers were a bit god-modey in magnitude, but her son's mixed ancestry makes his little more than rather impressive.
- Cosmic Awareness - a kind of super-sense that, when active, gives him enhanced speed, reflexes, and problem-solving ability. Despite the name, it's not truly cosmic per se; he just feels like he can see forever.
- Psychic projection - a fancy name for telekinesis & force fields. They're red, isn't that cool?
These two powers are intrinsically linked and cannot be used separately. So far, they can only be used in short bursts. Jaster's eyes turn bright red when they're in use.

Important to note is that he currently has zero knowledge of his powers, believing himself to be a normal human. It'll probably be quiiiite a while before he can activate them at will. (I plan to have him pretend to be a mutant out of fear for his own safety.)

ANYTHING ELSE?: Speaks English, French, and Arabic.
