Evolution is somewhat sudden. There's not much time for a pokemon to adjust to being grown-up. I've seen it a fair amount in bug types, simply because they evolve so young.
That's good. I find it interesting when one of these things changes and they still try to do what they usually had done before since it was normal to them.
