hey dave. i'm having a similar experiance with my youngest sister, katie (13). she and i have always gotten along well in general (when she's not being stubborn and i'm not being an ass). yet she's always been the baby of the family who never got the jokes and saw things very simply.
that changed. in these few months that i've been at college, i talk to her online or on the phone and it's not so much that she sounds like a different person, but she quite obviously thinks like one. she's suddenly using words i didn't even realize she knew. she's making jokes with her friends that sound like the kind I would make. lewd ones, that is, haha.
in many ways i feel like i'm making a new friend, a peer. it's rather wonderful.
i hope chris is maturing in a similar way. i miss the both of you, by the by.

I hope she enjoys her teddy bear, and I still think the trail of kisses leading to you wrapped in tin foil was a good idea! ;)
