Rainy long weekend.  Made for good movie-watching time... We watched State of Play.  Pretty good, but also predictable.  We had it figured out pretty early on.  Also I had a hard time believing little Ben Affleck went to school with manly Russel Crowe.

Last night, I watched Becoming Jane for a second time.  I cried again.  That part when she is ( Read more... )

oh sorry!! You may love it. It just wasn't my idea of a good ending. But I'll be interested to see what you think.

I had the SAME response to Carnivale. It was such a fantastic premise, and SO well done. Between that and Deadwood, which ended around the same time with the same kind of stupidity, HBO really pissed me off.

I've heard that Carnivale originally was supposed to be 5 seasons or something like that, and in the second they found out it would end that season, so that may explain some of it, but still! pfft. Deadwood is one we haven't seen, but plan to one day.

i'd say deadwood is worth the watch. of all the HBO endings, carnivale was by far the worst that i've seen. at least with deadwood there is some sense of closure. i won't say what kind of closure, but it's closure nonetheless. and swearingen is the best!

I noticed State of Play was on special rental offer at Blockbuster, so I think we'll get it out while it's cheap. Not too keen on Ben Affleck, but the plot sounded good.

The first film I ever saw James McAvoy in was 'Inside I'm Dancing'. Have you ever watched it? Have tissues at the ready though as it is so sad. We watched Becoming Jane a couple of weeks ago, really enjoyed it. Then followed that with a new TV version of Wuthering Heights.

State of Play is definitely worth watching. very good suspense movie. And Russel Crowe on his own is enough reason for me. hehe.

I haven't seen Inside I'm Dancing, not even heard of it before... but now I'm gonna go look that movie up, yes I am. Thanks!!
