This is one of a series of prompts! The rest can be found here!

She wasn’t going to stand Ganondorf one day longer. There was absolutely no reason she should have to, either! Link was obviously busy doing something else (The nerve of that man, when his beloved needed him most, he was nowhere to be found. He was going to get the talking to of his life when she got done dealing with the threat to her people) She didn’t have time to find him, either - after checking that he was nowhere near the palace or Kakariko, she’d found Ganondorf all but threatening her father with war if the Zoras didn’t submit to him. The King of the Zoras was a statesman, obligated to solve his problems by statesmanship and diplomacy. The Princess of all Zoras was going to be a Stateswoman herself in the matter of a couple years, but she wasn’t one just yet. There was a price to be paid when someone decided to threaten her people. She just wasn’t sure what that price was going to be - or hadn’t been, until she’d had a chance to remember where she’d first met Link. He never would have gotten out of Lord Jabu-Jabu’s belly without her help, and there was no way that some loser Gerudo was anywhere near as good as her fiancé. The trick was just in picking something to draw him there - the ransom note had been written weeks ago, and was currently on its way to the palace, where he’d be sure to read it sooner or later.

Unfortunately, the quarters she’d just broken into didn’t seem to have anything of value. The man had to have some treasure, didn’t he? She muttered an unladylike word under her breath, and snuck out of the palace the same way she’d snuck in.

There was just one hope now - maybe someone else had already stolen his things, and he’d take that note to mean it was her. Smart as she was, she’d phrased it vaguely in case of just such an occasion!
