The child in the photograph

Nov 23, 2006 00:09

The most heartbreaking thing for me is looking at old photographs. Too a place I once lived and can never return. I look at that little girl and remember the innocence of that life, the happiness and how everything I lived was cradled in love and safety ( Read more... )

*gentle hugs* Survivor. Survival. Doing what I had to do to survive the best way I knew how - - and still doing so. I hear you when you say 'regrets' ... and thank you for sharing a part of your soul. My regrets deal with ME not parenting me against dysfunctions. And, yes, allowing boys & men to 'use' me for I wanted to be so accepted (and still do) by a man. Slowly the child in me sometimes knows how much I love her and enjoy her - - then I can safely play as a child. Starting over would be great IF I can retain what I learned this lifetime. May the mystery, magic and innocence of your child find safety to play when she can and the adult in you know you are special and deserve goodness. *smile*

This sounds a lot like my thoughts. I don't get that feeling when I look at old photographs but when I look at my memories; it's as if they're under a glass, somewhere safe and protected, but so far that I can't touch them. Ever again.

However, I refuse to regret. Everything that I've done, said, felt - it has led me where I am now, and this is the only way, the right way. At the end I will know why. Regretting is futile. And I strongly believe that there will be the kind of a time that you speak of, a life like that; you won't be a child again, but you will have the heart of a child. We tend to bury that heart in our "grown-up" thoughts, just to find it again when we'd forgotten we ever had it, and thought all hope was lost...

I am trying not to regret, to move past things... but there are some choices I have made before that has caused me a lot of pain and has put permenent scars on my soul. I wish to go back in time and tell myself to walk away before it is too late.
