General
Canon Source: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Canon Format: Video Game
Character's Name: Midna aka The Twilight Princess
Character's Age: Though no canon age is stated, Midna appears to be a young woman perhaps in her late teens to early twenties.
What form will your character's NV take? A large book with magical properities, it appears to be an ordinary black leather tome. It's pages and cover etched with glowing teal symbols similiar to the kind that be found all over Midna's body. The book can be used to write messages in her own hand writing(text), record holographic images and play them back (video), and display them, or record her voice for audio posts.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
Midna has a variety of powers from her tribe's shadow magic, which include:
- The ability to use her hair like a hand to grab enemies or perform other functions, like opening doors, moving other objects ( even thouse quite larger than herself ). She is also capable of grabbing something from outside the Twilight and pulling it into the Twilight.
- Psychokinesis - various portions in the game involve Midna grabbing large items with her hair and then transporting them over vast distances. When goes to remove these items from the twilight portals she tends to levitate them down from the sky and drop them in to place. She can move other smaller objects easily with small waves of her hand.
- Making use of Twilight Portals, the portals she finds in Siren's Pull will not lead out, but she will be able to make use of them to travel through the city.
- Levitation - While in Imp form Midna tends to float a few inches off the ground and she can lift herself at least 10 to 15 feet high.
- Pocket Dimensions - She has been seen to be able to keep the Ordon Sword, the Ordon Shield, and the Shadow Crystal and have it reappear floating in her hand at will. She may use this power to store Link's items while he is in wolf form. She's basically capable of being a walking bag of holding.
- The ability to hide in the shadows of light dwellers and appear as a shadow in the Light World. This ability keeps her from being seen in the day time, as light can cause her to become deathly ill.
- Creating waves of energy strong enough to break metal. It's minor magic at best, Midna is not capable of breaking through thick sheets of metal. However things like bars are easily passable. She can even break down her body into "twilight particles" and just pass through them.
- Mimicry - Midna has the ability to disguise herself as other people she's met for short periods of time. It is a skill she tends to use to be more mischevious or get her way. She reminded Link that he needed to keep fighting to protect the ones he cared about, and changed into a few of his friends from home.
In Addition: The year Midna spent in Siren's Pull previously has caused her to absorbe enough of the Core's raditation that she has gained immunity to the light. She can now travel safely out during the day time, however she will be forced to do so in her Imp form.
Weapons: Midna will return to the Port with no physical weapons.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
Twilight Princess and
Midna Previous Game History: Midna arrived in Siren's port on November 3rd, 2010 just seconds after destroying the Twilight Mirror and returning home to her people in the Twilight Realm. Transported across worlds, Midna was forced to suddenly adjust to life in a modern and futuristic city with a rather dangerous night life.
At first, Midna was both frustrated and concerned about not being able to return home due to a number of reasons. First and foremost being that 'the Core' had decided that the best way for her to survive during the harsh day light hours was to curse her again with the less powerful and restricted Imp form that had been put upon her by Ganondorf. Her intial months were kept to keeping a mostly nocturnal schedule (sleeping during the day and being awake at night ), which in Siren's Port meant having to avoid an arry of monsters that appeared in the evenings. Though her evenings were spent investigating the so called darkness, in an attempt to discern if the monsters were some how related or descended from those of the Twili.
Minda adjusted well enough, never the type to just sit around, she got her own apartment and furnished it with modest amentities that would make life comfortable for her. Midna even found a job delivering packages during the evening, and while it was rather labor intensive it did matched her nightly schedule and her ability to use portals made it all the easier. The modern age truly turned to be something that drew her attentions immediately, from the clothes and fashions, to the music that played in the many night clubs, Midna made a life for herself and for the most part enjoyed it.
Though she still longed for people and the world she left behind and the day she might return home. Which Midna did just before the end of the summer and much to her surprise no time seemed to pass between leaving Princess Zelda and Link's side and arriving in the Twilight Realm. It almost seemed like her time in Siren's Port had been a dream.
Point in Canon: After breaking the Twilight Mirror and vanishing through to return home at the end of video game. However, Midna will return to Siren's Pull with her memories intact from her previous year spent in the modern day city. For her almost a year will have passed, she will have spent that time leading her people in a time of great peace and prosperity.
Character Personality: In describing Midna, Eiji Aonuma ( Game Producer) called her "tsundere", which means a character who is snobby and cruel but grows to become sappy over time. When he first meet Midna, we see her as a mischievous imp. We soon discover that she is an imp both the literal and figurative sense. Her desire to save Link from the twilight realm comes only as a result of personal gain. With the knowledge that the the chosen hero would appear to the Twili as a wolf, she set out to manipulate Link into helping her without so much as a care as to what happens to him or the realm of the light. She is not afraid to dangle the fates of Link's loved ones in his face as a way of making him do as she wants, in fact, later on in the game she insists Link must become her slave and do everything she says.
Midna is hardly afraid to speak her mind, she speaks up for what she believes in and often out against what she hates. This only touches on Midna's spit fire attitude and short temper. When angered she can really be a forced to be reckoned with, even with the odds greatly against her.
Deep down Midna harbors other feelings that she speaks of very little at first. Having been cursed by the usurper Zant, Midna harbors a great deal of guilt in not being able to help her people and leaving them behind. She is deeply devoted to her people and her realm, her pride also leaves her with a slight bitterness towards the realm of Light and the people who dwell in it. This is something that can be seen again, by her rude and often cruel comments towards Link about the world he lives in and the Princess who rules over it.
A lot of her hate and bitterness come to melt away when Midna is exposed to the Light and almost dies. The selfless act of Link risking his life to bring her before Princess Zelda and Zelda's sacrifice to save Midna shows Midna that all of her previous beliefs about the people of the Light Realm were wrong and that she was not just out to save her own realm but both the light and the twilight. Midna now becomes willing to share with Link who she is, where she comes from, and how this all has effected her.
Midna is at heart a self-sacrificing person who is concerned with the well being of her realm, her people, and her most trusted friends. Her devotion is only second to her ability to work towards her goal. She remains focused and dedicated as any ruler should be, and yet even after she regains her true form we learn that the Princess still possess a playful side.
Character Plans: Having already spent a year in Siren's Port, Midna will be eager to restablish herself and try and find her old friends. She will most likely return to her old job at first at Darkness Delivery before looking to branch out and find a new place of employment. Knowing that her realm is on the right path, will allow her a lot more freedom to branch out and away from being a ruler. She may even try to open her own business, probably related to the club scene as Midna became very fond of such clubs like The Lux during her time in Siren's Port previously. Not to mention the night scene is where Midna belongs, even if there are monsters she still finds a lot of beauty out there.

A year had passed since Midna's return to the Twilight Realm. A year since Ganondorf and the Usurper Zant was defeated by the hands of the hero chosen by the goddesses, or as her people called him now, the Hero of Twilight. Even after all this time Midna could still remember the way the twilight reflected off of the young man's blue eyes. They were memories she kept carefully guarded and private, things she recalled on when the feasts and meetings dragged on endlessly.
It seemed everyone in the entire realm had arrived at the palace to part take of the festivities. The celebration that had been planned was to ring in a year of peace and to many more years to come. Exotic music played on large drums called many blue blacked skinned figures with fire colored hair to the dance floor. They danced to the heavy drum filled music all around the circular room as she watches on from the raised dais. The evening passes and her interest remains mild at best. Memories of the friends she left behind in Hyrule and another that seems even more like a dream after all this time.
Hours pass and before the crowds have a chance to depart, Midna takes her leave, but not before instructing her guards to remain so they can enjoy what remains of the party. Her steps take her down a long corridor with tall pillars of dark stone that stretch as high into the air as they do in the distance. Each step further into darkness causes the voices and music to slowly die and she only stops when there is nothing but silence and the nothingness of the landscape around her.
A wave of Minda's hand causes a thick black leather bound tome to appear floating in the air before her. The pages are empty and the symbols have long since lost their glow, but her fingers trace the patterns thoughtfully as her eyes train themselves on the horizon ahead of her. The world around her blurs, Midna uses one of the nearby pillars to catch herself and the feeling of the cold stone causes her to groan. Pushing herself back up with what strenght she can muster, Midna is frozen in place as she spots a familiar city scape in the dark distance. Distracted she fails to notice the swirling portal that has opened at her feet and in her shock the book in her hands is dropped as the sigils begin to glow for the first time in over a year.
The tome is quickly swallowed by the rippling darkness and Midna's body quickly follows.
First Person Sample
[The video feed comes on abruptly square shaped flecks of dark light are flowing upwards towards the sky as dark shadows begin to twist upward until nothing can be seen. The sudden darkness and the angle make it impossible to tell what or who is transmitting the actual footage.
The next visible thing is a pulsing red light, one that starts the size of a pin and ripples out. A shadow accented by a dim teal glow briefly passes into view before a view of sector 4 from the sky is seen.
Then the buildings come rushing upwards suddenly as the device begins to tumble towards the ground. The flecks and the shadows slowly disintegrate in the moon light to reveal her curled up form. There's a mutter in an unknown language as her body shifts upwards from the ground, hair the color of living fire cascades out into view as she tries to get her bearings.]
It can't be...
[She groans to herself as her hand passes along the dirt of the baseball diamond, but she already knows this feeling and this place. She's done this all before and when her hand hits the book that's laying open on her side she doesn't seem the least bit surprised when she looks down and finds it on and broadcasting.]
Well. Well. Couldn't get enough of me the first time?
[She chuckles, lips spreading into a mischievous smile.]
Ah ~ so just how long has it been Siren's Port? Would someone be so kind as to give a girl the date?
