So, a professor of mine was giving a lecture today on the Copland Piano Variations, which is a great piece, by the way. He happens to teach two classes on thursdays, both an hour and a half, and then between them are faculty meetings, and immediately after the second class was his lecture. hahahahah yeah, I remember that piece and it's constantly in bad memories due to her class (which was hard to stay awake during). Glad to know there was some disagreement.
It's also interesting that you mention that because we were looking at Biobibliography's earlier in the semester and the librarian happened to just have Copland's on the overhead, there was Nelly Case's name.... small world sometimes.

I was suprised to find out that Nelly's dissertation on the Copland piano works was one of the first things to actually talk about the Variations, at least in any reasonable depth and without attempting to look at it was a purely tonal piece[which would be a little crazy].

Isn't nice to have moved on to real schools? Potsdam was nice, and lovely, and gave us many opertunities, but not so good in the learning stuff area.

Wait, did she even talk about the Piano Variations in that class? I guess I must have pushed it all out of my mind... or maybe I was spenind too many late nights in Hosmer to stay awake during the day at that point... no? Maybe not quite that early.
Ewww L&SIII. I wish so much that i had a better teacher so that i would ahve retained ANYTHING from that course.

well actually... I certainly now know who natalie boulanger is....
