ok, so, what do you recommend for an appropriately solemn, beautiful, churchy-sounding processional that is NOT:
Bridal chorus from Lohengrin
Canon in D
Trumpet Voluntary
that Mouret thing
or any other wedding cliches?

There's a trombone q-tet arrangment of Elsa's procession to the cathedral that is really excellent, and I know 4 excellent tromboners... and it would be liturgically cool because of sackbuts being the first instruments allowed in church...
maybe?

or if you felt like writing something as a wedding gift, that'd be cool too.

Elsa is most lovely, but suffers the same problem as the Bridal Chorus. Its an opera aboutt he shortest, worst marriage ever. I find Elsa lovely enough that I would not super-object to it, only somewhat.

Actually, I had just gotten an idea for a piece as I was walking home that could be adapted to this situation. I'll chat with you more about it on AIM sometime.

well, when i wrote that entry, it was in the middle of the summer, and Sam was in DC while I stayed in Boston. Gone-ness has a new meaning at the time of your reading it, whereas we had just broken up.
