It's probably an ingrown toenail. Those are surprisingly easy to get. All you have to do is cut the nail too short or a little crooked and BAM! It grows in. Don't ask me what the fuck THAT is all about. Anyway, if that's what it is, you may need surgery, not a serrated knife in a log cabin.
