"The usual please," is the murmur that greets the blonde standing behind the counter as a young man whose face is blocked from view by a thick stack of ink blotched, dog earned notes walks up. He begins to dig in the bag he has - worn brown leather slung across his chest - to look for his wallet, but the notes remain in his one hand, still blocking his face.
"Well, you will have to educate me on what the usual is." is the voice that greets the page of notes, it pairing its words with a musical chime of laughter.
It makes the owner of said notes lower his stack to peer curiously at the (new) barista. He is blonde, stunningly blonde, with a pair of wide eyes and a pair of almost perfect pink pouty lips any girl would die for. He is wearing the required black apron, tied around his waist and held from his neck, dressed simply in jeans and a white shirt that hugs his slim body, and yet he looks like a model. Hell, he could even be a model, is what Yunho thinks while finding his voice again.
"Vanilla Latte - double shot, extra hot, skim milk, extra foamy, dusted with cinnamon." is the reply which Yunho gives and what caused the boy behind the counter to raise an eyebrow, amusement high on his features. Yunho shrugs, as he mutters out, because he feels like he owes the boy an explanation. "It just started off with Vanilla Latte, but somehow - got out of hand."
"Ah I see." is the reply, laced with a chuckle the blonde boy throws back as he punches the buttons on the cash register, causing the price to flash up on the digital screen. He extends his hand as Yunho pulls out bills from his wallet, and then he speaks again. "I'm the new barista, as you can see, Ara (the previous barista) found another job."
Yunho hummed understanding as he received his change and receipt, along with a one moment and a smile flashed to him by the blonde.
It is with great interest, that Yunho watches the new boy work, he can't be that much older than Yunho, prehaps even - they are the same age? Which, would be 20 as of this year. He is pure grace, all grace, and yet clumsy at the same time, but in a graceful way, is what Yunho thinks as he watches the slim boy work the buttons and knobs on the expresso machine while fumbling for a paper cup.
He is too caught up in watching the boy work - because, something about him is mesmerising, that he jumps slightly when his drink is slid in front of him, the brewed coffee wafting up to greet his senses, startling him out of his daze.
"I'm Jaejoong, by the way." is what the boy says before Yunho can say thank you. "Kim Jaejoong."
Yunho is so enthralled by the boy and his name that he forgets to introduce himself. He nearly burns himself, because he startles when his cell-phone rings - coffee spills out of the small opening on top, reminder beeping, reminding him he has an early lecture today.
"Shit." is what he mumbles to himself as he flaps his stack of notes in a wave at Jaejoong before racing out the door.

The next day, Yunho only has one class, one that starts at noon. He enters the cafe earlier than he normally does however, at 10 am today instead of the usual one hour later. He finds it empty, as it usual is at this hour where those who have gone for work are already at their desk, and those who usually come in at noon, are well - not here.
He spies Jaejoong alone today, the other female that usually works behind the counter is absent, or so it seems. Yet, Jaejoong doesn't notice his enterance, for the simple reason that today, Jaejoong is singing along noisly to what seems to be an portable music player, a pair of earphones slid over his head, while swinging a mop around across the floor. His voice is beautiful, an angels song that flows around the empty space. All Yunho can do is stand, rooted to the spot and listen. Then it stops, as Jaejoong turns to notice him. He immediately slides the earphones off, but he is neither embarrased, nor abashed as most would be. He sticks his hand into the front pocket of his apron to mute the player before raising a hand in a small flutter.
"Hello again stranger." is his greeting followed by a lopsided crooked smile.
"Yunho. Jung Yunho." is what the taller of the two spills out, realising he forgot to introduce himself.
"Coffee for you then Yunho?"
"Yup."
"The usual?"
"You got me."
"Coming right up."
Jaejoong gets his order right, even though it is only the second time, and they both sit and talk, because there is no one else in the cafe until the next customer enters, signaling the start of lunch-time coffee addicts, and that Yunho needs to get to class.
Yunho finds out that Kim Jaejoong is 20 years old, the same age as he is, and that Kim Jaejoong is currently staying with his cousin and dongsang, all three of them who have just moved here from somewhere on the outskirts of Seoul. He also finds out that the other two are both students, one entering University next year the other already in his first year. "And you?" is what Yunho asks, but only gets a grin and a reply that says "I want to be a singer." Yunho is sure he can become one, because his voice is heavenly, his face angelic.

It goes on, for one month, and then onto two. They never do greet each other in the same way, ever - its a different way of greeting, a different comment every morning. Wind, rain or shine - they see each other every morning, small talk is what they squeeze in when the cafe is busy, and if they are lucky, they get to sit and chat when the place is empty, save the two of them and Claire, the half american barista who works there aisde from Jaejoong.
But it is on one sunny morning, that Yunho hears the abscene of Jaejoong's varied greeting as he walks into the cafe. He looks over towards the glass windows that open to the small wooden deck where patrons can choose to sit, and he sees why. Jaejoong is perched atop the back of a tall, lanky boy with dark hair who laughs, with a brilliant smile and a pair of eyes that crinkle up to become mismatched. They are both smiling, laughing, and Yunho swears he feels his heart drop six feet, or prehaps, more. They look like they are close, very close, very very close. HIs suspicions are confirmed when Jaejoong leans down to rub his cheek against the lanky boy - and Yunho turns and dashes from the cafe.

"Uh, excuse me, but I didn't ask for decaf."
"Oh but aren't you the guy who always takes it decaf?"
Its been two weeks since he has been patronising the coffee joint around the next corner, the one nearer to the University, and the barista here still can't get his damm order of coffee right. But Yunho can't go back to Jaejoong, because even the thought alone is too painful, and he doesn't even know why, doesn't even realise that it hurts, and that is why he stops at this damm cafe instead.
"No, I'm the guy that always orders a-"
"-vanilla latte - double shot, extra hot, skim milk, extra foamy, dusted with cinnamon." a voice cuts him off and Yunho turns with raised brow, only to have his expression collapse.
"Jaejoong?"
"Thats me."
"Don't you have work?"
"Not today."
"What are you doing here?"
"Searching for my favourite customer who hasn't turned up in two weeks." is the reply that greets him as Jaejoong leans against the counter. Yunho notes that he is dressed like a sin in slightly loose dark wash jeans and a form fitting grey wifebeater. Yunho takes it all back, the comment about Jaejoong being like an angel, because no one with a body like that can be called angelic, he is pretty sure.
Yunho shrugs, as he tries to change the subject, his fingers drumming against the counter as he waits for his coffee.
"So, how are you and your boyfriend." he finally speaks, without looking up.
Silence greets him, and Yunho's heart twists, only to unfurl in the next second.
"Boyfriend?"
"The boy whose back you were on the other day."
"Boy whose back I was on...?" its a questioning statement, more like wondering, but then laughter rings in to fill the gap between the two.
"Whats so funny." Yunho demands.
"The tall boy?" Jaejoong shoves Yunho lightly with a hand as he grins widely. "Thats Changmin, the dongsang I told you about - hes like a little brother. I could never like him in that way."
"Oh."
"Sir? Excuse me sir, sorry was that a single shot of a double shot again?"
Yunho opens his mouth to speak, but Jaejoong has already grabbed onto his hand and is pulling him out of the door.
"Do you have classes today?"
"Just one."
"Oh, what time?"
"Its not an important lecture today."
"Come back to my apartment? I'll make you a killer cup of coffee?" Jaejoong is grinning as what Yunho can only describe as seductively and, all he can do is follow the other.
-
The next morning, Yunho saunters into the cafe.
"Hey Lover Boy."
"Pick you up at 7 today?"
"Mmm. How about you wait for me outside your school. What time does your class end."
"6. "
"Alright I'll be there."
"On your motorbike?"
"Yeah."
"Well make sure no one rapes you, cause you look hell sexy on it."
"But I know you'll sue him for me, won't you mister law student."
Yunho can't reply, because as Jaejoong hands Yunho his daily cup of coffee per usual, he adds a kiss on the lips.
