Why is our generation so afraid to love? Saying, "I love you" is like committing suicide. It's just something you don't do. Something you shouldn't even think about because the thought is so outlandish we can't even fathom it. But why? Is it because we feel we are too young to understand the depths of love? Or because we think we're just stupid ( Read more... )

you say we're not ready, maybe our lives have been corrupted with the notion that love is what you must find, fast and it must be very deep. and it must be the only love. maybe our generations thought of what love is, is fuzzy. you can tell, with say the people you know, who has a grasp of life and love and who doesn't. it my ventures it seems that people can share emmensely strong feelings for each other, but be confused whether or not these feelings are love. or our concept of love. i feel like i know what love is, and who i love...i love you amy...but sharing the truest feelings of love with another person never seems to be as easy as expected. i let my love known, but maybe some people find it hard to say "i love you" because the term has lost its luster, and some people just dont understand it. i cant see how love could just be forced between two people with time and persistence, but if the connection is there, you will know whether or not saying i love you to that person is mutual and real.

Actually, I feel like couples our age say, "I love you" far before really do love eachother. It seems like last year, everyone was going out for like a week before they started saying that to each other, which is stupid. Love takes a long time to develop and isn't the same as liking someone or feeling lust towards them. I totally agree that a person should be able to say when they love someone instead of hiding it inside, but I think kids our age are way too quick to think they are in actual love, or else they feel obligated to say, "I love you" just because they're going out with someone.
