invitations.
here's the invitations that we had made ourselves.
we literally spent less than a buck on each invitations. about 68 cents. yep.
here they are...
but please do excuse the poor yellow lighting... the paper is not as yellow as it may seem, it more ecru color, off white, creamish.
and the red is bazzill (brand of paper) pomegranate red.
the handwritten cover. this is the general phrase that Chinese people would use when a couple are getting married. literal meaning from character to character is 100 year together forever. basically it means, together forever. it is written on with a brush with gold ink.
here's the inside of the invitation. since my family is Chinese, we felt that it would be appropriate to have Chinese in the invitation. a faq (almost 1 out of 3 people who have seen the invitations): "how did you get the Chinese to print off of your computer?" well, it was very easy, there's a language program on your computer and some that you can download for free.
both sides of the folded is not attached to the card, only the right side by the fold. so, it's not completely attached. we used 3M flypaper, that works amazingly. my fiance got it for free from a company that makes those flat bumpy soft pads on phones. you can't feel the tape nor see it.
we embossed the character double happiness above the Chinese part. Double happiness is mostly used in Chinese weddings.
Here's what a double happiness looks like (this was on a separate sheet of the map & rsvp website that my fiance made)
and since I love writing. yes, i am crazy, i wrote out all 160 envelopes... this one got sent back, so, i'm not too worried on posting it, but i still blurred out a few parts. This one, i'm just personally giving it to her.
