i read the news at work (it's technically part of my job), and came across this article:

I believe the donation process leaves you feeling literally like someone kicked your ass, so maybe you should schedule it for a day when you're feeling the need for a good ass-kicking. *)

I also know someone who saved a life with a bone marrow donation. It's worth doing, and goodonya for doing it!

I just checked the medical guidelines and don't meet criteria at this time. I will check again after this babe is born! Thank you for the reminder, I've been meaning to do this for ages.

I'm even more of a wuss than you are!
Anyway, if you read the site it also says that they may only ask for blood, not necessarily marrow. And also that if you are asked to give marrow, the procedure may take 40-50 hours of your time.
But seriously, saving lives is still worth the pain and time.
