home again, home again, jiggity jig.

Been vaguely off the radar for the last couple of weeks because of my being at the Adelaide Fringe with chilung and onegiantrabbit. It was well worth the trip (though the car trip in 35 degree heat and... somewhat heated discussions is another story)... and I'm not sure whether my bank account will ever make a full recovery ( Read more... )

job hunting, adelaide

Glad to see you guys had fun over there...our hostel is not too bad : P

As for the work thing, I´ve found the best thing to do is paper the whole gorram town with resumes...and don´t be too frightened to do this thing called "lying"...it´s gotten me a position or two : P

Heh, the european hostels are pretty good, aren't they? *sooo jealous*

Yeah, I should probably lie, but I'm just so damned bad at it scrupulously honest that it probably wouldn't make much difference. :P

Glorifying the truth is okay...give yourself more authority at work, or invent situations...

We miss you guys, try not to have too much fun while we´re gone : P

Hmm. Clearly you're not travelling hard enough. You shouldn't have time to do silly things like miss people back home : P

Hmm... the selection isn't the absolute bestest thing ever, but I thought I might like to see this.

Or this, which isn't even an opera, but which is cool anyway... :)

I know I know I know! But it's on a Wednesday! I can't go. *pouts*

Is it only on Wednesdays? I thought they'd play it at other times as well. No sense rehearsing something like that for just one show... *is puzzled*

Wah. Stupid non-arts-friendly culture :P

Is it on during the holidays, maybe??

Try Drake. They're not too shoddy.

Oh fuck, forgot about Inspector Rex. I am so dead.

Brilliant, thanks. I'll try them :)

And if you can't get a copy of Inspector Rex, I taped it for my mother, so I may be able to get you a copy, if you want...

hey don't worry I totally hate job interviews and think i am unemployable as well.. and i've been working for 7 years now! I've been in the same job for the last 4 years for precisely that reason... avoidance! :P I am really really really dreading having to find work in the UK in a month and making all that stuff up to say in the interview. Coz basically a job interview is just about how well you can bullshit, not how well you can do your job. And I also hate/am really crap at 'creative bullshitting' or whatever... I recommend maybe doing a google search for sample job interview questions and writing your answers to them down beforehand, based on what they like to hear.. once you've worked out what that is and can use those catchphrases like 'team work' and 'initiative' i hear it's easy enuff to get through 'em! :( RL sux ay...

Oh, I know... it's just the anxiety thing and the avoidy thing. That's the exact reason I'm still in my job too. Blah, I think you're totally right about all of that, though. I downloaded some interview questions once, but I couldn't think of answers to half of them.. maybe I should try again :P
