OMG I need to see the rest of this series NOW PLZ.
But equally, I don't want it to be over.
Jack is such a bastard with letting slip that he knew Gwen was pregnant. He so did that on purpose. Though LOL @ the tracksuit bottoms line.
Liked that Ianto took the time to contact his famiy, and that the neighbours are in on it.
Gah, how cool is Alice? Though, trying to call Jack? Not so smart, though she does seem really worried about him. And I love that her coat is the same colour as Jack's. And that her mother used to play 'hiding' games with Steven, presumably trying to make sure he stays safe if anything bad happens ("Are we in trouble? Grandma always said there'd be trouble"). I kind of wish we'd got to meet the mother now!
The stealing bit was really fun. And JB's porsche! Has the DeLorian been sighted yet? Apparently that's his, too.
Contact lenses! Part of me wonders if it's a bit too cheesy sci fi for mainstream audiences? Hope not! Love the banter about using them for "fun". Srsly, yay Torchwood. :D
Poor Lois is so worried about committing treason, though for some reason the fact that she's so scared makes me think that maybe she'll survive.
The Jack/Ianto scene was wonderful (though not as raunchy as I thought from Gareth's description of how they were both 'gagging for it'). Finding myself suddenly disliking beans, for some reason... Also, slightly worried that the "when I die... of old age" line is foreshadowing. Especially as it's followed about a minute later by Johnson saying that dying of natural causes is rare for a torchwood agent. But there's been a lot of foreshadowing in this series, and it's all paid off. *trembles* I'm just hoping for a red herring sort of thing, at this point.
My god Ianto has pretty eyes in this. Seriously, I've only noticed it in the show about twice before, but this series is really bringing them out.
Very short Andy cameo is way too short. I hope he gets a bigger role in the next two episodes. Unless that means it'd end badly for him.
Bridget Spears is developing... the way she turned on Lois was very telling. I think she would do pretty much anything to help or protect Frobisher.
Another extremely cool action confrontation between two female characters... (Alice and Johnson). Really liking this dynamic. And is it my imagination, or is Johnson starting to have a bit more depth? She's certainly becoming increasingly ruthless... which is really saying a lot.
The kids pointing is creepy. Creepier than the chanting, I think. The whole show is doing an awesome job of balancing the whole 'othering' of the children as something to be feared and not understood, against the parents' desire to protect them.
Pillar of flame is effective, as well. 4-5-6 voice is a bit silly, but sinister, at the same time. Though this might be mainly due to what it's saying, rather than the sound of the voice. Also, ew to the vomit. Really, ew.
Oh, and speaking of the voice, does anyone think there's something weird about it? Like, when it would occasionally get things wrong, or repeat what Frobisher had just said? I really think there's something more to it. It'd be better if it wasn't 'just' an alien that wanted to eat kids, imo. Like, there needs to be a hidden agenda. I'm relatively confident there will be something, at least.
Oh, Frobisher. I love how desperate he is to get the 1965 things covered up that he marches right up to the tank, after being so scared earlier. And then the 4-5-6 actually lies for him (though, awesomely-in-a-passive-aggressive-way, by insulting Britain). And I love how afraid he is, and worn down by it all. The part when he slides down the wall is just perfect. And in spite of everything, I felt rather sorry for him when he still had to ask whether Bridget thought the PM was using him. Srsly, DUH.
Also, finally some worldwide involvement, which is good. And necessary. I did rather enjoy UNIT-guy's well-honed sense of schadenfreude, as well. *g*
OH JAAAACCCKK. The conversation with Frobisher was really well done, and Jack really is the better man, at least these days. But we all know he used to be less... noble. I wonder why he took the children... pragmatism? Also, his last line was really effing creepily delivered. Some good acting from JB in this one, actually :)
And Gwen, you can just see her illusions shattering when Jack admits it. Ianto and Rhys both realise well before her, though I suspect that she's not going to let him get off as easily as Ianto, or even Rhys, will.
The "we want 10% of the children of this world" bit was chilling. I don't normally go in for those sorts of lines, but the build-up has been spectacular, and I think it's just that much more impressive because you can't see the alien and we don't know what they want them for. *shudder*
The "queer" bit bothered me a little bit, as did the "taking it up the arse" bit in Day One. I mean, sure, they're probably on the realistic side, but I really kind of prefer my Torchwood sans homophobia. I just love that it's been this world where that's just not an issue at all. But apparently that's no longer the case. :-/ Also, thought Ianto's reaction was a bit strong - I didn't think he was that insecure about his sexuality (his relationship with Jack is a different matter).
OK, now to watch Day Four, and then hope that I'm not too much of an emotional wreck to go to work. Eep!
Oh, and fwiw, that offer for a Torchwood catch-up party on Saturday (er,tomorrow) afternoon/evening is still open... I'm planning to watch it all again anyway (what!? I totally have a life!), so it's no bother if people want to come over and watch it with me... :D
EDIT: Ridiculously major spoilers for Day Four in the comments, so beware...
