Gantz, yo.

So I went to the Gantz showing.

I have no idea what to think of it though.

The dubs were kind of ridiculous. "I CARE ABOUT YOU! I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU, YOU IDIOT!" Everyone in the theater started laughing at this. Everyone. And the speech pace was sooo slow. I don't know if it's just the fast-talking Californian in me, but dear lord, they spoke so slow. I get that they have to fill in the mouth-flaps, but they could have done that with better dialogue.

To be honest, I was annoyed with most of the characters.

WHY WON'T THEY SHOOT? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, LESS STARING MORE SHOOTING. During the fight scene with the thousand armed statue, when Kato and Kishimoto were having a long-ass "moment", I was like "OH MY GOD, IT'S GOING TO FREAKIN' KILL YOU!" Seriously, if I was that statue I would have stabbed Kato right there. Same with Kato and Kei's moment of "I wanted to be like you".

I know those moments are supposed to be poignant, but to have them smack dab in the middle of a battle and to have them be as long as they were, I kind of rolled my eyes.

The characters I liked were Hongo Kanata's "Nishi" and the new young guy. Yeah, the new young guy who's like "I just want to see my girlfriend." Why pick the obscure character who might die soon, you may ask? Because whereas it took everyone three missions or death to realize that shit just got real and they have to fight to survive, it only took the new guy one, ONE, mission to be like "Okay. I need to do this. Kei's the leader."

And I just like Nishi because Hongo does the best "Bitch, please" faces ever.

There's more, but I'm sleepy. So I shall sleep and possibly blog more tomorrow.
