LAST SHOW ADDED TO YOUR RESUME: Stephens College Off-The-Wall Series: Oleanna - as Joan (the Professor). We did a version with both roles as female and it was actually really interesting.
LAST SHOW YOU AUDITIONED FOR: Oleanna.
DID YOU GET IT: Clearly :)
LAST SONG YOU USED AT AN AUDITION: ... Oh, Christ, do you know how long it's been since I've auditioned for a musical? I think the last musical audition I had was last year, for the Boji season... I don't have the slightest idea what I sang. No, seriously. I can't even give you a ballpark idea.
FAVORITE MUSICAL: The Music Man for sentimental value, The Secret Garden and The Full Monty otherwise.
FAVORITE PLAY: You know, I feel like I've got one, but every time I think of it it goes out of my head. I think it might be VIsiting Mr. Green.
FAVORITE ROLE YOU'VE PLAYED, AND FROM WHAT SHOW?: It's a toss up between Regina in The Division (A Partilha) and Mrs. St. Maugham in The Chalk Garden. Mrs. St. Maugham was really fascinating but difficult, playing her as something more than a two-dimensional bitch, but rather as someone who has lost her youth and all of her friends while the standards of society come crashing down around her. Regina was just ... fun, because for once I got to play a free, sexual, smart-mouthed individual instead of an uptight old woman.
FAVORITE ROLE OVERALL THAT I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY: Helen in Fat Pig (Neil LaBute) is one at the moment.
SUPERSTITION: I try not to believe in any superstitions, but I end up avoiding them all -- saying "Macbeth" in a theatre, saying "good luck" on opening night (or any night), whistling in the wings...
YOUR GOAL IN SHOW BUSINESS: To do what I love and enjoy it, maybe make money, whether it's in show business or not.
FAVORITE DIRECTOR: Beth Leonard.
WHAT WAS YOUR VERY FIRST SHOW?: The Pheasant Pharm Phollies.
HAVE YOU EVER HAD A DANCE SOLO?: I don't think so, but I was a featured dancer at the Stephens Theatre Institute (aka I got to do the hard dance in "One" with the other good dancers even if they didn't put me in the other Chorus Line stuff)
HAVE YOU EVER HAD A SINGING SOLO?: Yes.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN THE LAST PERSON TO TAKE A BOW?: Yes. (Hello, Dolly!)
HAVE YOU BEEN TO NEW YORK?: Many times, but not for my acting. For everyone else's acting :)
HAVE YOU BEEN TO LA?: No.
WHAT'S THE SCARIEST PART OF AN AUDITION?: When the director is too fucking lazy to prepare anything and instead just asks you to improv or do other stupid shit that has nothing to do with anything. That's what we call crap.
WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF AN AUDITION?: When you walk out of there knowing you have the part. (And you're right.)
NAME A SHOW YOU WOULD NEVER DO AGAIN: London Suite (Neil Simon). Fuck Neil Simon, fuck that director. But mostly fuck Neil Simon for being full of himself but writing crap plays.
NAME A SHOW YOU COULD DO FOR YEARS: The Division.
WHAT ARE YOU AUDITIONING FOR NEXT?: Uh. This is the first time I haven't had an audition set up in the near future.
DO YOU KEEP IN TOUCH WITH PAST CAST MEMBERS?: Depends on the cast members.
ON A SCALE OF 1-10, HOW IMPORTANT IS GETTING PAID?: It used to be 1. Not important at all. Now it's pretty high up there because I'd like to do it and be paid. However, being paid to act isn't worth the price I have to pay for my dignity and sanity right now.
SOMETHING EMBARRASSING OR UNEXPECTED THAT HAPPENED TO YOU WHILE ON STAGE?: *slams head repeatedly on desk* I went on stage for The Chalk Garden in the scene where I'm facing upstage looking out a window... with my dress open. Good old Grandloo with her dress open. Oops. Fortunately I had a slip on underneath so there was no skin showing, but really.
WHO IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PERSON (ON STAGE OR OFF) THAT YOU HAVE EVER WORKED WITH?: R.. oh, shit. Rob? Rob S...? I completely just forgot his name. The director of London Suite. He gave me some of the best advice I could ever have as an actor, but I hated him with a passion beyond passions.
EVER BEEN NAKED ON STAGE?: No, but I did flash my cast members while on stage----but I was covered. It was all illuuuuuusion.
WHO OR WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST INSPIRATION OR INFLUENCE?: Oh, hell, I don't know.
ONSTAGE, HAVE YOU EVER...
...BEEN KILLED?: Yes (Hamlet, as Gertrude)
...BEEN DRUNK?: Yes (The Division, as Regina)
...PLAYED SOMEONE HALF YOUR AGE?: Yes (Our Town, as Si Crowell)
...PLAYED SOMEONE TWICE YOUR AGE?: Yes (In just about Everything)
...CRIED?: Yes (Tall Tales, The Chalk Garden... whatever)
...FIRED A GUN?: No, but I was held at gunpoint (The Butler Did It, Again!)
...BEEN DRENCHED?: I so wish.
...BEEN IN A DREAM SEQUENCE?: No.
...BEEN KISSED?: Yes (Tall Tales)
Also, gave
prongsie the comic book treatment, which is over at my deviantART page that I'm too lazy to link to.
Feeling very sick tonight. Ugh. Kill me.
