yah sometimes jpg sucks because it compresses it a lot but if you have a really high resolution than its not so bad as long as you dont blow things up too much.

This is from a D100 perspective, but I'm seeing that the JPEG files are slightly inferior to the NEF files I've shot. I've printed 12x18 flawlessly, and have even done 20x30 with satisfying results. I'm told I can print up to 24x36, but have yet to come to the need.

I still need to learn how to use raw ... I've only tried it once, and was bothered by the size ... huge file size to deal with and the output size presented is half that the jpgs are sized at from the digital rebel

I need a photoshop plugin also

think of it this way, RAW format has two sides, one good one bad:

bad: you can easily get in the habit of using it as a crutch. You don't have to shoot for white balance or contrast or exposure or shutter speed because you can adjust once you get to the comfort of yer puter.

Good: You don't have to shoot for white balance or contrast or exposure or shutter speed because you can adjust once you get to the comfort of yer puter.
