Applying for a NY license?

Found this on the dmv.org site's nyc section...

New to New York?
If you've just moved to New York but you had a photo license in another state, you won't have to go through this rigamarole to get a New York license. Just do the following:

  • Appear in person at a local DMV office.
  • Complete Form MV-44 (Application for Driver License).

Dude, I just did this. I got my license the other day in the mail. Here's the research:

bring:
$45.25
proof of name and date of birth
social security card

If you lost or cannot locate your social security card call:
social security
18007721213

To exchange an out of state license for a New York license you must go to License X-Press

License X-Press Office*
NYSDMV
300 West 34th Street
New York, NY 10001
(Between 8th & 9th Ave)
* Service Limited To:
New York State license & vehicle registration renewals & duplicates & license plate surrenders, and exchange an out of state license for a New York license ONLY. NO boat or snowmobile renewals. NO permit renewals.
