I liked your post. It made me think of my feelings about poetry and high school. I look back at all my work from that time... it was all so DEEP! And I say that in a condescending way. DEEEEP.
The only thing I disagree with in your piece is how on earth could a conglomerate Hallmark try something risky to sell to mass drug store shoppers for Christmas or Kwanza or Mother's Day or Wednesday? You know what I mean?

Oh boy, well I couldn't agree with you more that Hallmark and risk are two things unlikely to go together hand in hand. How do I put this lightly... I'm not saying that I suggest Hallmark change it up with more obscure/evocative/risky content, I think it's more that I've conceded to the fact that mass media as a rule produces quantity over quality. That's what makes obscurity so much fun! You dig for the good stuff.

Her vorpal blog went snicker-snack. Did you ever look at the Jabberwocky site with translations in something like 20 languages? The Latin version (very good) is called "Iabervocius".
Always good to have someone in the class who knows what gross hyperbole means (whether or not capable of avoiding it).
