If I were only one inch tall, I'd wonder how I got so small.

I'm back, oh, I'm back, did you miss me?
Well, lucky for you (well, lucky for me) I've finally begun to crawl out of my rut, and my wonderfully apropos job has once again given me inspiration to share my thoughts. At the store today (Coles), a woman and her husband came in and asked me if we had anything in the form of poetry appropriate for a ten- ( Read more... )

Hee hee hee hee; I love your limerick.

Man, why *don't* bookstores carry real live poets? I would order like, 10!

(no, I'm not in your group. I'm just a little overexcited what with all the blogs and the commenting...)

P.S. Does your store carry Robert Munsch (and if so, does he sell well? I'd bet he would! And I find his repetition's awesome for kids learning to read. As well as his being awesome in general!!!)

Yeah, we do carry some Robert Munsch... he sells some, but not as many copies as you might like to think! I love to look at his books though, they're adorable.

One time two weeks ago, I saw Fred Penner at Chapters. He was there for his new book "The Cat Came Back" which is one of his songs that he used to sing on his show. And I used to watch his show as a bright-eyed little girl in the mornings while I was getting ready for kindergarten. So, he was on stage with his guitar singing the song, and afterwards he signed all these books and talked to little kids and their parents. And my boyfriend and I, who are both 21 years old, were too shy, and hid behind a bookshelf, peeking around at him the entire time.

You may wonder what this has to do with anything. But, I rather think that if you could get poets at bookstores, there would be a lot of hiding behind bookshelves going on. :D lol

I can't BELIEVE Fred Penner was at Chapters and I didn't know. How could no one tell me? I feel so genuinely betrayed. I am so jealous of you... my jealousy will never end.

p.s. which Chapters?

It was the Yorkdale one. We were there because my boyfriend wanted to pick up a new book in a series he is reading. Honest to god, the whole thing was magical.

I love your comment about how the words in this poetry are easy for children to remember, a process rearing them in the direction of further reading. It reminds me of when I was a little girl and my aunt use tocome visit and leave her "book of words"...as I called it, in the bathroom! I would always run in there and pretend to potty, haha but little did everyone know I use to think I could read what was written on the wonderfully decorated pages. I soon began to understand and with much help from my aunt, respected the words on those oh so beautiful pages that became in essence, alive.
Just thought I would share that :0)
