Trying to find examples of Sappho's poetry, or even just discussing it, is a very complicated matter. Even just trying to find the poems we read in lecture this week hasn't been easy. It may not be because the girl has no husband, true. But given the fact that the fragment is introduced by "like", it seems not unreasonable to see the trodden hyacinth as at least a simile for beauty's vulnerability, perhaps in general?
